I feel for czesio. Being kicked by firepluk for not playing with team is just whole other level of irony.

The problem with failpluk is, as already someone pointed out, is simple: he does not give a shit about others. He does not care if he ruins everyone's fun, because all that is important for him is his own fun, firepluk's team meant to be his tool for having fun. If game is lost, that's because team failed to carry failpluk's zenith. If game is won, then its firepluk who ''grilled'' lobsters with his ''shiny'', effort of teammates can be completely disregarded. Its just that simple. And please, explain to me why it should matter that he CAN play good, when in 99% of games he doesn't? Considering his overall record, from what i have seen - he's just a garbage teamplayer, and - my personal opinion - garbage human being. Not that i would be much better ofc, but still.

Btw, his elo should absolutely stay.

Exaggerated reactions like this do not help with people that are anxious about their performance and game play.

And I do not think you are 100% correct. Firepluk strategies do make the team win multiple times and his current rating is a proof. Did not see him doing (last year or so at least) completely useless stuff (thinking of ramps, or 100 storages like noobs, or porc in base or quitting without any reason).

And not sure he does it anywhere else than casual host. Which means it is a casual game - should not expect perfect competition!

What. His rating is currently at the second lowest point it has ever dropped to?

This is true, he does win. My original point though, was about him not giving a shit about others. Astran and indaled already expressed their feeling playing in team with firepluk, and i totally agree. Its not the same if you win through coordinated and honest teamwork, or through cheesy backsitter firepluk leeching off your frontline efforts. For example, I sometimes had great pleasure supporting Astran's frontline tactics, feeling actual effort of a teammate. Can't say I've ever felt something resembling teamwork from firepluk, his wins are usually result of same repetitive repertoire: nuke rush, meteor rush, com drop, scallop drop. Don't think trollcom can be even counted as a win strategy. I`ll give it to him, execution of those tactics is masterful, true. Maybe its fun for him. But who can say its fun for his team?

Problem is nobody asks everybody else specifically what is fun for them, so my point is that he is around the average - there are may players that many times don't communicate, don't listen but try to win (and not sure how much he does it, I was not annoyed by that).

And Firepluk's tactics also need various support styles (ex: for nuke rush try to prevent scout, for troll comm check for widows, for disco check for silos etc.). He generally does not communicate nicely "lets do that", but there is a limited, kind of obvious set of things by now...

Would be curious if there are groups of players that play well when together, in a consistent manner. That would confirm compatibilities (or incompatibilities) in large team games are relevant or not.

Since we're playing 16v16 on 1v1-3v3 maps I find Firepluk's strategies to often be the best thing to do. Ten minutes in, the best front line unit is Tremor and Bertha is just a Tremor on steroids. DRP is even better if you get some assistance from the team. Also since income is limited to 5m/s you can't afford losing any units if you wish to keep your rank.

As for teamwork, there are some minorities (e.g. Mumble) that really try to coordinate, but from my experience the majority of my teammates won't even respond to chat messages, let alone execute a coherent strategy. So I find it easier to team up with pluk and use *rush this!* as a strategy. That's simple enough to be understood by others.

Firepluk as player isn't garbage but his attitude against other player is garbage. He is very good team player if not trolling around. I have seen it. He can do with serious play second position cluster ladder.
His strategy mostly works in cluster teams. However his high risk and high reward strategy can fail easily if against him is experienced players who know how to disrupt it.
There is no point to rage vs pluk. Its pointless. I have done it many times and it was just wasting emotions. And he like it. He like that everybody pay attention on him. No matter its good or positive.
And pluk problem shows one more problem with this game in large teams - until 20 min everything going ok, there is battle but after that front just becoming trench wars where nobody can win his side. Porced, terraformed, bot teams strt build costly units and exotic units and game becoming unplayable. Only super weapon can change this stalemate. Sometimes this stupid behavior is seen in situations where winning team got 3/4 map and start doing shit and lost game.

yea, problem is after having a certain amount of games(jeez i'm well over 20k, 20 fucking K - an absolute record for zk and probably a lot of other communities) you simply burn out to care each and every game and just look for casual fun in 99% of cases...
I still love ZK for what it has to offer, - fun games with robots, hilarious stuff you can do, memes with lobsters, guys I know here... Some I can consider as friends for all those years.

Yes, I do not care much about others fun(read I'm a shitty friend :D) but I try not to actively ruin other's fun. Resigning is just part of mentality., and balancer should be perfectly capable of handling this. Usually it's a lot better to simply resign and give ur team a bit of extra income

Anyway... those are lobster pots, places where people meet for -casual- not highly competitive games... If you try to win too hard in cluster pot - you just misunderstand the value it has to offer and you are ruining your own fun. Highly competitive games are 1v1, events with high elo, tournaments... definitely not lobster pots :D

Yeah, gotta admit, this thread is good. Firepluk did explain himself, no questions. Relax and do not care is best attitude here indeed.

All in all very thoughtful, good posting, everyone being reasonable. I like this community, and this game.

I tried caring multiple times for lobster pots - all it leads to is 1) unnecessary stress and frustration 2) yelling 3) bananas(tasty)

So yea general advice for those who play it - just chill, try to be a little bit cooperative and do not actively ruin everyone's else fun(like by doing teamkill or rushing singus near mid of team base) and have fun of course!
And don't take 'useless lobster team' personally, sometimes it's just that... a lobster team :D:D:D
Move on, next game, certainly gonna be great ;)

fire pluck knows how to sweep under the carpet

his front-line metal stealing habits to feed ridiculous projects at desperate death-rattle moments despite the mercy calls

its like swapping 1 player for a late game instant win factor

you play an uphill battle and mostly loose.. if you win you win without fire.. and win before his super.. if you loose you can listen to fire wiggle out of it.. i want to make a super too.. but its crazy.. fire is brave.. kinda brave sitting at the back and letting the front stay undermanned.. but if his team can hold on for life he hits them with a nuke to the face

I kind of understand his perspective. I too sometimes start in the backline and chill out doing lower stress things (mostly nimbus spam) instead of trying to hold a desperate frontline where I know I will periodically get dicked over by gunships, bombers, bertha fire, surprise striders, multiple enemy players deciding to pick my lane, etc.

But Firepluk is just too extreme and too frequent in his shenanigans. He also often ignores his team asking him to not do said shenanigans.

I don't understand why doing backline things has a negative association for the kind of games we're talking about. Most teams would perform far better if the bottom third of the players solely sat at the back building fusions, singus and the occasional antinuke. It requires little skill and apm, but is essential for a good chance at big teams.

It's very specific backline things that are annoying, like a Meteor rush. Or a Singu rush with "hey guys connect gridzzz!!!11" no fuck you, if you don't bother coming to front the least you can do is build up the grid as well as that Singu.

DeinFreund: I believe its because too many people going backline is a more frequent and more catastrophic problem than too little.
