Defending against Slings, Envoys, Badgers, Emissaries? I'll use shields and Gausses!
Defending against Firewalkers? MORE shields!
Defending against Impalers, Lances, Phantoms? Area jammers up!
Defending against Tacnukes? MORE shields!
Defending against Merlins? MORE shields... I guess...
Defending against DRP, Lobbers, Blobbers? Heck no!

Defending against Tremors? Uuuhh... what?
Defending against Big Bertha? Oh no! What can I do?

What if there is no way to destroy it as soon as possible due to the dense of the enemy defenses

This is a good time for storage.

If you have your com alive, build 5 storages to get a total storage of 3K metal. also, get like 50-80 buildpower(like 1400m in cons).

You need to piggyback off of someone else's army. if there's like 5 large shields in a shieldball, or heavy tanks that can push forward, they go firstwards into nomans land, crating a path for your buildpower to close the gap to the bertha for a tacsilo. teraform a wall first, and teraform the silo into the ground a little bit.

50 buildpower builds a 1200m silo in 24 seconds(this is why the storage is nessisary.) 2 eos missiles build in 24 seconds. less than 1 min after the start of construction you fabricate a silo and launch 2 missiles in a somewhat defended via teraform nomansland zone and destroy a bertha.

This is a large ask. But all together, it's about 4.5K metal. And hopefully you can hoover up some reclaim with all this mobile buildpower you have.

I know you are up to the task commander. Over and out.

Attack instead of defending from the start. This game punishes building defenses in general, and if you're at the point where you absolutely must defend for prolonged periods, you're most likely going to die no matter how many shields or stingers you build. To temporarily block Big Bertha, try terraforming a wall to intercept its projectiles, but look for ways to destroy it ASAP. Scythes or even a well-microed Ultimatum may be able to do the job by going around your opponent's army and defenses and an Owl can take away its radar dots to fire at.

If you can't rush a tremor, the second best option is to take it out with artillery of your own. Pretty much any artillery will defeat tremor, although high-density artillery is better due to having a smaller area and taking less damage from tremor. If the enemy is leaving it stationary, you can also use a tac nuke.

Bertha is an attrition unit, you just have to do your best to keep fighting under its influence. Shields and cloaking fields do take some edge off the bertha in the frontline. If the bertha aims at your econ directly, build terraform walls to shield it.

For BB, first scout its defenses with swift (3-4) afterburner flyover it. If you see gaps that scythes can penetrate - and it doesn't take much - then that is probably the best option. However, if the BB is raised where scythes cannot reach it or covered by enough turrets to rule that out, then a silo or scylla is probably the best option. The silo is better if the BB has shields as shockley eats shields and tac nukes will destroy the BB. A scylla holds more tac nukes and has 500 elmo more range than a silo so sometimes that makes a big difference.

Alternatively, sacrificing 18-19 ravens to bomb it might work (BB is 6000 metal while raven is 300) if 6 ravens get through to drop then the BB dies - of course if the BB is shielded or has caretakers, then more ravens must succeed.

Of course, there is always the DRP, zenith, trinity and starlight that will make short work of a BB :)

Shields aren't actually the best defense vs light artillery. It takes more metal to buy the shield than it does to out-DPS the shield. 3 slings (300 metal) is 75 dps, which is 25 more DPS than the 525 metal Aegis can handle, wearing it down (eventually). Badgers, Emissaries, etc. are also efficient.

Tacnukes can penetrate almost any number of shields by firing 2 in a row, staggered.

Merlin has lower DPS per cost than Aegis but the salvo can overwhelm shields and kill Aegis, especially if supported by lighter artillery.

Impalers have great range for taking out statics, e.g. Bertha or a lazy (or widowed) Tremor. Tacnukes are also a great option. Definitely use radar jammers or cloakers to give them fewer targets (particularly vs Bertha).

Shields don't have to last forever to be useful. Their purpose is to reduce attrition to your units and give you more time to react to enemy artillery. 3 Slings can indeed defeat a shield, but they will take so long to do so that it won't matter, unless you're playing in a completely passive fashion.

They tend to be useless against Tremor though, because Tremor has too much DPS over a large area.

I just joined Zero-K, but like strikeshadow said, try a massive airstrike with a bunch of Ravens or Likhos. You may want to send some airplane scouts or ground units to spy on the enemy first. If the flak is too strong, send in some cheap air units and thunderbirds to lead the charge (the cheap air units soak up damage and the thunderbirds can disable the guns producing the flak).

I usually set the main factory and plates into primary, secondary, and tertiary production.

If I build an Airplane Factory, should I make it to tertiary or quarternary factory, so I can spam Swifts and Ravens, just in case if the enemy has attrition buildings, like Big Bertha and Missile Silo?

Swifts are useful scouts and will allow you to per-emptively scout demi-superweapons such as bertha.
Having 20 ravens and not going anything with them though is asking for trouble. you can get a strider hub, scylla and some lobsters for that much, which is much more useful

6 Slings vs 6 Convicts + 1 Aspis, huge win for shieldbots as they do their jobs right.

I feel like large area shield/cloak not produced with so small cost.
