Why would jacks be light transport? Jack drops are way too cheap to pull off. What's next? Dante light transport?

Minotaurs are heavy transport and they only have 800hp more and cost 250 metal less with the jacks being arguably more effective to take out any costly unit or infrastructure (300dmg per second). What the fuck?

Quote from the wiki:
"Jacks are both tanks, damage dealers and sometimes even raiders in their own right. The Jack can take quite a punishment, allowing them to tank in front of less sturdy units like Moderators or Firewalkers. Their large healthpool and their jump ability also allow them to cross defence lines with ease, making it easy to send several Jacks behind enemy lines to wreak havoc."

Why would you make that a light transport unit???

Make jack heavy transport like it was before whatever update changed that, please.

PS. I will just make jack drops from now on until people realize how dumb this is.

It's not that arbritrary. Charons can pick up any unit of 1000 cost or less.

This isn't true. Minotaurs are transportable by Charons due to the reasoning above.

What are good ways to fight transport jacks tho?

Gnats, Racketeers, Domis, and/or fast-moving slow/EMP units turn Jacks into donations. Decent AA coverage shouldn't have much trouble against 300 HP Charons either.

Disable jack mid air jump, problem solved as now you have half or less hp hp Jacks after shooting down their transport.

As a bonus it also fixes the unit catapult troll physics.

Optimal use of charon jack includes throwing it into target for impact damage.

EErankAdminAnarchid do you have some replay to back that up? Jack deals 300 dps and ramming only affects a single target while trading the Jack lifespan and potential damage dealt.

That would make 0 sense, as I said on some other thread. The reason it can jump in midair is because there are two kinds of jump methods. Rocket boosters, and legs that just jump. So, can a human jump in midair? no, if a human had rocket boosters could they jump in midair? yes. So, if you wanted it to not be able to jump in midair, either it would be weird, or you would have to make it jump with it's legs, which is even weirder.

A lot more than you'd think, actually.

Also it would just be inconsistent if all the units with rocket boosters could jump in midair except for Jack.

http://zero-k.info/Battles/Detail/1113227 Jack kills full health recon commander with just impact damage.

USrankfloomby commander survived the impact damage, what killed the commander was the jack attacking it while in air. Result was a ~200hp jack and a dead commander. It was definitely worth it in that situation, but seemed like a lucky gamble.

You can see the Commander takes 2 impact damage ticks, probably cause the jump. Reminds me of the time Randy lost com in tourny game cause he jumped on radar.

USrankAdminSteel_Blue there are four lights. I recommend you watch the actual replay with sound.

I should watch the replay. The video posted makes it look like 1: impact and damage. 2: jump. 3: impact and damage. 4: Jack does melee attack.

Not sure what you mean by '4 lights'

The wiki is seriously out of date then?

The wiki was actually correct, but then it was updated ("updated") by a silly bot. I reverted it.

Most AA without serious AoE will hit Jack instead of Charon, as it has too small footprint, efectively making them very hard to shoot down.. and then those bitches jumps, of course, so...
