Why is the upgrade to commander level 4 650 metal?

The upgrade costs go 50-100-650-200-300-[+100]. It almost looks like a typo.

If it's because of the extra weapon, shouldn't the cost be put on the weapon? I can choose to not take a weapon, but I'd still pay the extra 500 metal.

Upgrading coms is a waste of money anyway. Can we just increase morph cost by 1k per level?

If you don't take a weapon you get two of the weapon you already have.

I think it's 'cause of the extra weapon. The second weapon makes a big difference in commbat (comm combat).

Basic weapons need to be cheap because they are implemented by the same modules at levels 2 and 4. Advanced weapons should be about as powerful as a second basic weapon, for diversity, so they need to have similar cost. The power spike at level 4 is access to another weapon.

Technically the cost of level 4 could depend on whether an additional weapon was selected. I just haven't seen the need. The current system works and has fewer special rules. Level 4 also provides stats and a few advanced module types so I'm not even sure that 150 would be a reasonable price. But I don't think I feel strongly enough to reject a PR, provided it solves the UI problem of communicating to the player that the extra cost is due to the weapon.
