They do a TON of damage though, 4 of them can kill a Paladin, whereas it takes about 27 snitches to kill a Paladin.

This is true, but there are ways to distract the Pala for enough time to get the kill. Even if only one or two hit it, it still does quite a bit of damage and can certainly turn the tide in your favor.

They also don't cost an incredible amount, to kill a Pala with 4 skuttles costs about 2,200 and maybe 2,750 if you want to be safe, while to kill a Pala with snitches it takes 4,320 snitches worth in metal, all the while a Pala costs 10,000.

Snitches are better in most circumstances because they are way faster, are cheaper for one, and have more AOE, but skuttles are still really powerful for killing commanders and such, and especially if you have someone like mojjj spamming them.

More like skillfully maneuvering.

Keep it up mojjj, it adds life to an ordinarily stale lobpot. Way more interesting than seeing a bunch of blue players decide whether they want to use 6 glaives or 7.
