Why has !predict been turned off?

You can't use !predict in game but you can't do it out of game for FFA either ("!predict needs at least two human teams to work").

I don't really get why a few people disliked seeing their win chance in game, but it could be changed to only appear for the team (or specs) who requested it if it really annoys them (or they could just ignore it).

I quite like being able to see what the actual odds are when I'm playing or speccing (particularly as the after-the-fact odds can change drastically due to WHR).

I always feel like it is really bad manners for spectators to !predict during an ongoing match. I don't mind it at the start so much. But also agree with izirayd's comment, that terming this as "actual" is a bit silly.

I'd bet you could code a solution and get it implemented. DeinFreund mentioned some kind of solution using the player list in the thread that Galamesh linked for example.

The main time I used predict was to spam people in FFA so that they would check the lobby to see that I had joined the lobby 2 seconds too late and wanted to play. But I don't think this even worked once anyways.

As far as I am aware, the potential cause of this is the fact it was being abused in FFA by spectators.

A PR for a change to the infrastructure to put !predict in a reasonable state, or a client-side widget to calculate predict odds, would probably be accepted.

Infrastructure development mana from coredevs is pretty rare and whatever blanket fix has been applied to !predict was probably just the easiest solution dev-side to the issues with the command, rather than a decision that this was the ideal state for the command to be in long-term.

That being said, I don't personally think that !predict is very useful or predictive outside of 1v1 and very small teams.
