I bet +hp and missiles/lasers work wonders against Gnats. Maybe with the recent updates that turned Gnats into assault units you'll need a couple damage boosts too.

Missiles are crap. I cant imagine where I would want to use them. They are good to kill fleas, maybe glaives... but anything who has a bit more hp... As for long range weapon instead missiles I would pick up gauss canon it has long range too and ignores shields and with few targeting modules you can shoot air even better than with missiles.

Gauss has no bonus at all against Gnats. They lack shields and big colvols.
