Hi there,

as the settings menue is already quite crowded, I think a complete dialog window would be a good approach for setting advanced details on units.
A button in the unit behavior section could open this new dialog where you can set options.
This way you need less default state buttons and players can individually select upon their personal needs.

Example window:

unit type move state fire state selection rank formation rank retreat value const. priority
constructor maneuver 1 2 99%
raiders roam
raiders special roam return fire
skirmisher maneuver
skirmisher special maneuver
riot
riot special
assault inherit
assault special
artillery
artillery special
factories inherit low
def. buildings
eco. buildings low

If you omit an entry, it will be left as it currently is (maybe show this value as grey?), if you set a value it will be set for the whole group.

When I have to reinstall the game and don't dare to copy my old config files due assuming there could be bad or old settings ruining my installation, I'm manually merging the old config files to the new ones.

With such a dialog I could reduce this manual step a lot.

The dialog you are looking for already exists! If you Space+click on a unit to see the stats, there is an "edit behavior" button that opens the window you are talking about. You can set behavior not just for the unit you selected, but for all units.

yes, this dialog is cool for changing seetings, BUT if you read my post throughly, then you will see a column called UNIT TYPES which means ALL raiders or ALL skirmishers or ALL riots and you do not have to go through every single factory and every single unit.

did you ever edited every single factory and unit and can you assume how much time it takes?

Sounds fine.

Looks like a midpoint between the presets and the full settings. The presets should demonstrate how to mass-modify other settings correctly, in a way that updates them. The rest of the work is choosing what goes where and how to categorise things.
