Hello again I'm currently on the hunt for cheap rental accommodation and jobs in The United Kingdom if anyone has any ideas I would welcome them.

Apart from being a lobster my skills are basic tech support, PC building , and shuffling paperwork with a bit of acting and hospitality in the mix too.

Gotta ask why UK? Post-brexit it's not really worth it anymore. I'm assuming family?
If I had the choice to work anywhere in Europe I'd probably pick Germany.

Cottage in middle of nowhere, £250 a month, rented room in a city like London, £500+ a month, adverts in shop windows can be a good way to find one of those.

I'd recommend staying with family/friends either rent free, or low rent, whilst you save up money to buy land.

Ideally you need a remote access job, so you can still work whilst building your home, since it is likely there won't be any jobs in places that you can afford cheap land.

I'm hoping next move to have a place with more land, enough to put greenhouse(s), so as to begin the process of growing my own food.

But land is expensive..

So all depends on what price this property goes for, and what is available on the market.

Several acres would be nice, enough for a solar farm, a wind turbine or two, then won't have to pay a fortune for electricity !

At least that is the theory..

Be interesting to hear from folk who have done that, did it work out cheaper than buying it from the grid in the end ?

Also handy for when there are power cuts. :-)

Solar and wind are great ideas but the expensive part is getting a battery bank to store the power and smooth the flow. Even cheap lead-acid batteries are kinda pricey.

Are energy prices that bad? That people are considering going off the grid and going solo...

one year of electric bills in eu gets you 5kw wind turbine off ebay. another year gets you battery pack of gnarliest lead acid (the old school not gel ones) batteries. 2 years of electric bills sets you for like 30year of service life, if youre settled and houseowner its nobrainer
