New Command Idea: Ignore (Target)

"Ignore" command ("Ignore Target"?) - basically opposite of "Set Target" command. Selected unit will add target to a list of targets to ignore, primarily to avoid shooting at a specific target, for example to avoid friendly fire or to allow reclaim of enemy nanoframe without destroying it.

Command "Clear ignored" ("Clear Ignored Targets"?) would also be necessary to cancel the above command.

It could be extended to support repair, reclaim, resurrect, etc.

Area tool could be added to avoid targets in specific (circular) area, for example Firewalker could be directed to not target enemies inside of allied Wind farm.

If area command would be created from a unit it could stick to it, for example Lance could be commanded to ignore targets in proximity of allied Commander.

What do you think? Is it worth implementing?

A shoot last command could be useful too... I do want me lance to shoot that glaive, but only if there's nothing better to target!

I believe targets in range are already prioritized, for example wind generator will be prioritized over a closed solar. Lance should ideally shoot at most expensive unit. I think most units target nearby enemies first.

It's a neat idea but I'm yet to see a UI that would make it work. There are a lot of possibilities and perhaps they would just need to be tried.

Swistak how can I work out how that works? Or is it just by watching the units?

AUrankAdminGoogleFrog I think 3 commands to cover all use cases:

- Ignore Area: Set persistent circular area, units that enter or stay in the area will be ignored
- Ignore Target(s): That could be used for single targets or drawn a circle, targets in the area during issuing command will be ignored
- Clear Ignored: Clear all ignored areas and targets

Another options would be to add ignore area globally for all units, similar to retreat zones area. This should make it easier to manage, probably easier to implement, but usage will be limited.

AUrankStuey72727 Ask people that know, check source code or test yourself - I guess you can spawn some units during pause then see what target will be fired at first. Not sure if it's described anywhere.

I've always thought that 'no fire zones' for artillery would be useful, which is a similar idea. Especially units like cerberus who are prone to friendly fire and who you generally want locking down a single area.
