Hiya!

This is a mod that adds a secondary airfactory, filled with possible ideas on a magpie slot unit. It is also included in the Refumble mod.

Included so far are:
  • Pidgeon: Aoe Toss bomber with inaccurate and slow to hit but good aoe bombs
  • Finch: Cluster Toss bomber variant that has more projectiles in trade for less aoe.
Toss Bombers are good at grinding down squishy or bunched armies, but can be evaded due to their slow projectiles.

  • Falcon: A Rocket strike bomber, has much faster and accurate projectiles with some impulse in trade for little aoe.
  • Heron: A Strafing strikecraft, using dual disposable EMG pods that it spends in one strafe.
Strikecraft are harder to dodge, but slow down and need to stay on approach to make full use of their weapons.

  • Buzzard: A magpie variation that trades a good bit of its damage for slow damage instead.
  • Hawk: A magpie variation that trades health for Radar stealth.
Ideas I had heard thrown around that I thought could be worth exploring.

Googlefrogs Variation that I've joinked:
  • Egret: Trades health and projectile speed for more range and a little less cost. Makes it much more dodgeable but safer from flex AA. May need to fly closer overhead to hit more mobile targets. Heres the Commit Link.

The factory includes Swift Raptor and Crane aswell.

Theres some more slots left to fill so if theres more ideas, feel free to let me know or make a PR in the Repository.

A flexible riot plane that have a turret at bottom to kill raiders by accurate projectiles or beam, with limited ammo which needs reload. expected to have less
viability (or even slower speed) but more total damage output per reload (or not).(FLYING MACE!)

A plane that deploys a temporary turret.

Magpie technically has a turret on its back in model, that could be used to for those sort of things/manipulate to stick to the bottom or so.

I've not touched it yet because I don't quite see a way of how to make it fun.

Maybe it could be one of the few units that have firing constraints, making it a broadsiding plane sorta, but that could be hard to make behave minimally stupid (as in, I don't even know what good amove behavior would look like)

I'm slightly opposed to the sort of plane that can reliably kill single raiders, because it steps into space that swift would flex into and moves the viability for that style of plane earlier into escalation (you hunt raiders instead of riots/skirms)

A turret plane is maybe an alternative for odins shield drop, but I think shields are more interesting there. A turret deploying plane also comes with a good few question that need answering/that havent been thought through yet.
Mines would be a more safe and tried option, though then badger is also an iffy unit in itself. I'd be happy to try something along the lines I spose.

Falcon and Heron now want to stay on target to get out a full attack run of damage.
Aborting a partial attackrun still causes a full reload, the reload call is based on a timer from first shot fired.
