I miss a way to fork a thread or at least mark something as offtopic.

Click and look into your browser's address bar :)

I can code something to automatically mark all DErankNeonSturm posts as offtopic if you want.

Not all offtopic posts are mine and not all of mine offtopic

You could mark all posts of threads in the offtopic-"folder" as offtopic if you want XD

missing:
- file attachments - for logs, replays, models
- subscribe/unsubscribe to topic
- threaded discussion
- nested quotes
- security
- rss or api to download data only, without all the horrible html

clean the horrible html... not only because it is ugly, but because it generates a lot of useless traffic and because it is slow to render

fix the half-baked pagination support
- if the goal is to reduce load, dont force people to go to page 1 (which by definition contains max posts, currently 100) so they can click on page 2 => show links to individual pages where you show link to thread
- or at least, go by default to the page containing the last seen post
- when i vote on page 2, i dont want to return to page 1
- when i post on page 2, i also want to stay on page 2
(as suggested by burp, of course this should be ajaxified)

I see what you are doing.
Yes, we miss a way to change the title.

No, that was actually not intended xD

I'm convinced Neon's original topic name mentioned forking (i mean, come on, this topic name is way too productive to be of Neonstorm origin :P).

- a way to get to the last page/post of a thread without having to scroll/click the rest away.

To scroll to the end of a page don't you just press "end" on a keyboard?

But that very easily could be the wrong page since the advent of pagination. In case of paged thread, to get to the last post, i'd need to:
- pay close attention to notice thread has 2 or more pages.
- click the appropriate page.
- hit end or otherwise scroll down.

Not only does that mean one click too many, it also means a page load too many, which is kinda wasteful.

Well it automatically scrolls to the last post (unless the only change was an edit) on the first page, so we can go ahead and assume that if the correct page is chosen it will also scroll properly there.

Really, i feel like all those complaints from sheep ("half-baked pagination") and you are simply fixed by simply loading the right page of the thread.

Pagination fixed.

(in light of that maybe it shouldn't have 200 posts/page)

EDIT: hopefully unbroke editing

I heard that Licho hates pagination so it was owled after implementation.

Doing things right involve more than fixing this... those complaints were to ensure it would usable.

Being able to know on which page you are would be good (ensure that current page is not clickable), and not showing the paginator when there is only 1 page would be nice.

Also, ensuring that links to a particular thread+post are working would be nice. As it is, "link to this post" include a page parameter, which will break whenever the posts/page (100) parameter change or when preceding posts are deleted (and cause page to change). Nothing complicated again, just some effort required to make things correct. The bug is present right now, its just waiting to express itself.

Yes you guessed it, I'm just stressing that "I'm making this myself in 30 min" is mostly lack of foresight.

Edit: to confirm that edit works again and to suggest proper way to handle the link to a post... link should never contain the page parameter, and controller should redirect to wanted page, so links included in posts will never be broken, even if page size change.

I don't think any of those features are important, and I'd rather developer time were spent on other parts of the infrastructure.

It's just a forum. It works fine.

Common open source fallacy. Its not because devs are not fixing something that they have more time to do something else. They are not paid to work X hours/week and have to prioritize tasks in this "framework".

Some of the devs may prefer to have less features and less bugs, rather than leave bugs in the code and add more features. That's my hope.

Not a fallacy; devs are just limited by free time and motivation instead.
