Hi all. I have a youtube account where i used to post commented replays of XTA. Now i want to do some 0K games as well. So i am looking for good 0K games. Preverably small 1v1 - 2v2 (maybe 3v3) games. If you (top ranked player) have one and dont mind your game being shown publicly could you point me to the replay? All of them are recorded by the 0k server.

I played a 1v1 vs KR recently on comet. http://zero-k.info/Battles/Detail/18916, I think I have some good 2v2 or 3v3 somewhere too but that would take more searching to find as they aren't recent.

The tactics and who wins aren't that interesting. What is interesting is Skasi managing his allies on all three fronts of the Folsom battle. At the same time.

I was very chatty that battle, sorry. XD

I have this replay saved as a battle to study. Hope Skasi does not mind too much!

Well i have some nice battles, but for some reason search in the site is not working so i manualy uploaded 1 that im really proud.

Its a 2 vs 1, TNF clan vs me, they can actualy make units defences etc, i mean they know how to play, its not 2 random noobs against me, so i guees its cool.

Thx again for the replays. I hope to get one out today.

However, 4v4s are kinda hard to comment on, since there is so much going on at the same time. 2v1 sounds like it was a bit of an ubalanced game. Will have a look though.

I've been too busy to play in a while but hopefully this weekend I'll hunt down Godde or Google Frog or someone for some 1v1 you can commentary on. Hopefully I will not be too rusty. :D

I've enjoyed watching some of your XTA commentary a while back. I think its awesome you have some interest in ZK!

It's easy to see you are pretty new to ZK when watching the video. Nevertheless, I'm glad to see you creating some commented replays, might actually bring me more newbies to rage at! :)

Don't forget you can access all the information like metal in units when selecting them. You have access to exact income numbers and even how much you earn/spend by mexes/od/reclaim, etc when hovering over resource bars.
For informations on units you can hold space and left click them.

You might already know that though, just telling.

Generally pretty good but your lack of specific knowledge showed a bit. Also there were a few important 'strategic actions' missed but as you said it was more a focus on the units.

I may as well say a few specific things...

About the factory choice, Glaive is actually faster than Scorcher. Cloakybots are the best Bot factory for large flat areas; most of their weapons are direct fire and they are in general faster. Another thing is that a Rocko Warrior army won't take a ridiculous amount of time to cross comet.

Scorchers (and other heatrays) do almost 0 damage at max range and massive damage at close range, this is pretty important for them.

'Raider' is was renamed years to Ravager ago with the purpose of fixing the confusion caused by an Assault Tank called Raider.

Bots aren't in general just worse than Vehicles, when I killed KR's army I would say the cause was how much more I had spent on mine.

Prec bomber isn't completely unbeatable ;D. I had a few turrets that kill them in one volley and take about 12 seconds to reload.

You missed a few things, with a bit of an unfamiliar game and multiple things occurring at once I don't really blame you but here they are as far as I can tell.
  • The production of my fusion
  • When KR got air
  • KR's comm dying
  • I did that super fast startdust building thing with the nearby HLT as well ;D

One thing about comet and fusions. I have played comet quite a bit and have noticed an interesting feature: There is A Lot of metal. So much that often your energy economy limits you more than your territory if you're not careful. I don't think you're really playing comet until you've got a fusion up. If you watched KR's bar he excessed a lot of metal while we both held about 1/3 of the map each.

I cloaked the fusion because I was pretty sure KR had not seen it and I knew he had a lot of bombers, losing your fusion on comet is bad. (Not building one in the first place is bad too).

I think the top one is particularly interesting as I start with Jumpjets, but you may need to know what's going on with the units to follow it. Iirc units used is something like; Puppy, Pyro, Moderator, Jack vs Glaive, Warrior, Sythe, Tick.

I didnt say anything on the resource management, since there was so much going on alsewhere :P Usually thats my main focus, since it is the most important thing in Spring.

I know that glaives are faster then scorchers. I was talking about the darts ;)

In general i should get used to the names of 0K units. With bots i meant cloackbots, vehicles are light vehicles, aircrafts bomberplant (or whatever it is called) etc.

Interesting to hear about the cloacking field.

@skasi The spacebathingie doesnt work here :P I rebinded the F3 (goto last msg pos) function to it.

I am enjoying 0k very much atm and will add some more vids later on.

Its nice to have shadows etc, but your low unit LOD distance is very, very low. Makes the units become static pictures at a very low distance.

Well done though, good to see some commentary.

i could play this game w/o 3d models and still like it :P
Have unitlod as soon as i cant distinguish the units in "real view" anymore. Wich is pretty fast with glaives.

also, 4 battles between GoogleFrog and Godde have been added

/mapmarks at the beginning of the game frees you of having to manually erase spectator drawings and markers for replays

Space Click on a commander to see commander modules.

Sak does have a bit of a point about graphics. I didn't even know units could have LOD, I just set the icon distance reasonably short. Also if you used lups you could see the nanospray in pre 0.8.9 games and it would be easier to tell whether a unit is cloaked.
