When you have slightest advantage someone !resign and omg it passes thats huge nonsense and must go away. First of all its not clear if you are actually losing or not second it gives great dissatisfaction and disapointment for attackers games are boring. Either resign must go away completely (dota 2 style) or at least it should have some sorta brains which prevents too early resigning.

I disagree. There are plenty of good reasons for a person to resign. Like, for example, something came up that is more important than gaming. Besides, you can never keep a person from just walking away from the keyboard.

I think it would be more reasonable to add consequences for resigning before a certain point. For example, the metal value of all of the players units is added up, and some function of that is subtracted from their experience level, but then one could also get around this by simply walking away from the keyboard.

What if the person was allowed to resign, but then CAI takes over their part of the game? Then the game can go on without them.

If a few people don't want to play anymore they can just leave and let the others play. I think team resign is only ever really needed when a single player tries to prolonge games by digging holes and similar silly things. Other times it's just a "I'm not sure we can still win this, what does the rest of the team think?" situation.

Just increase yes-vote requirement for team resign. Should be enough, no?

No. You are missing the point. Thing is there is whole base to destroy, resigning destroys the fun for attacker. Also people do resing too early generally it sucks. It should only prevent searching for last flea situations. Maybe you should have at least 5 times metal advantage to !resing even be available.

Point is current situation sucks.

If you cannot resign when clearly beaten, then the fun of defender is gone. "Oh I will just sit here until an arbitrary amount of metal from my team has been crushed, twiddling my thumbs."

Making team-resign unavailable is just exchanging the fun of one team for the fun of the other team. It also drives away newbies.
My reasoning for that last point is this:

Newbies often lose. So what happens when a newbie loses currently? Resign happens, and they are in a new game quickly, blowing things up and enjoying the parts of the game where they haven't lost yet.
Without resign, they would spend a disproportionate amount of time in 'defeated' stage, waiting for enemy team to work their way through their or their allies' porc. They spend time in humiliating victory parade of enemy glaives running through their base shooting all the defenseless structures when game is clearly over, instead of spending time actually playing the game.

Most of the people who start the resign button are newbies that learned the commands, and when they lose the commander and theyir factory(even if you are winning the front) they start the vote and other nubs/newbies follow with Yes vote.

Happend to me for the last 2 days with 2 games. Had clear chance of winning game. Wanted to report these players, but do i have the right to report 5-6 players voting yes for a totally weird reason? making you lose the game even if you had big chances of win?

i resign all the time, playing once i know the end of the game is inevitable is just boring...

alot of old players can just tell when its over via logical progression:
quote:

player A fails
enemy A will blindside player B
player B fails (this is when alot of vets will resign, cascade started)
enemy A+B will blindside player C (loss is inevitable)
played D will support player C vs A+B
enemy D will kill player D
player C is crushed between A+B and C+D (where most newbies thing they "lost")
...you lose

Also newbies/noobs dont zoom out to see if the team is doing fine or bad when they do the resign vote. They just see 1 commander, factory and a few units in that zoomed in area, nothing more. And when those units die all hell brakes loose

While I agree that resign can be useful to end lang drawn out games that were decided long ago, like Forever I also think people sometimes vote-resign much too early. That's why I suggested a slight increase in needed votes.

LTrank[pikts]wolas, I think what's even less fun than not being able to destroy the enemy base after having won is playing one-sided games cause by single players resigning early on their own, even though sometimes it can be exciting to hold out or even turn around uneven games.

@skasi , curently you need something 2/3 of the team to resign, what do you want to set it to?

2/3? Are you sure? Feels like less. I don't know if I understand the code correct, but this looks like you need (playersInTeam/2 + 1)

<=3 players = 100% agreement needed
>3 players = its iether 75% or 66% (i can never figure out wich due to rage quits/resign and exit lobby)

When I first started playing I felt the same as wolas, but soon changed my mind. Its because if your used to playing campaigns/single play you're used to the game being about building up then delivering a crushing blow to enemy. But when you get into the strategy just winning or playing well is the fun part not destroying every little building etc.

Of course wolas you're a long time player so maybe you have different reasons. But I like current system.

In old times, when !voteresing didint existed, anyone who wanted could do last man standing show 10v1 and have fun. Who didint want to play just resign alone, if someone was prolonging by hiding he would receive good old boot in the ass. Now players are like pussies - omg front breached MUST VOTERESIGN.

acheiving the moment the other team resigns IS the victory

Complete nonsene ivory. Nobody plays to achieve victory on paper, everyone plays to waste time and have fun doing that.

There is good reason why on successful games like dota2 you cant voteresing, and if you leave early you get punished. If there wont be such things half games would end on first blood/first tower kills and so on. Just like now on zk. Its rare to see game ending in destroying enemy base.

First: You can resign in any game. Just close the software.
Second: LoL is more successful than DotA 2 (depending on how you measure "success") and has a team resign vote.

Starcraft 2 is highly successful, has many tournaments for big money prizes and lots of esports casting. What is the main method of winning in starcraft 2? Enemy recognizes situation is lost and says 'gg', then resigns.
Sure, players can fight prolonged battles when they are slowly losing, or make a glorious comeback from a severely disadvantaged position, but most of the time it's "Oh I have no army, enemy can outproduce me and will be inside my base in 10 seconds with nothing I can do about it, time to exit game and try again."
