A recent update in the spring engine in my distro's repo

Objects flying around being attached randomly to other objects, lots of texture glitches and random invisible objects.

Anyway to fix this?
OS: Archlinux 64 bit
Package: http://www.archlinux.org/packages/community/x86_64/spring/
GPU: Intel Ironlake Mobile

There is no recent spring engine, the last release was 9/2/2011. Yet your distribution says the build date was 26/7/2011. The engine is also called spring 0.82.7.1-6 and I have no idea what -6 means. There are 2 possibilities:
  • The 9/2/2011 engine was recently built for the distribution and they called it an update. They also added the unknown -6 notation, maybe that's how many times they've released the same version?
  • They built a recent version of Spring that is still in development so is not expected to be stable. If this occurred you should not have been able to play online.

Although the previous musing is pretty useless as both conditions have the same action. Basically this is a pure engine bug, tell the people here: http://springrts.com/mantis/main_page.php

If you previously were playing online successfully use spring 0.82.7. This version syncs with spring 0.82.7.1 as the most recent is a syncing bugfix release. If you have played online in the last few months with no problems you were probably using 0.82.7 so can revert to it for now. Even if that is so still report on mantis as 0.83 will likely break for you.

I think the -6 was to recompile spring with new libs and keep the system up to date. What version of libtorrent-rasterbar do you have? I downgraded it and seemed to work :D
