Widgets are widgets. Some people like blowing things like this out of proportion. Look what happened to browser cookies in the EU because of this type of fearmongering. Now there has to be an annoying and useless banner on every site.

A widget is just a piece of code that can help automate a few things that would otherwise be tedious to do manually. Why do you care so much that I have a widget to automatically mark a factory that my unit has already seen? Yes, some of them can potentially give their user a slight advantage. But then what can you do to make their user give them to you? or even to discover that they are using it?
