I am not against the idea of a new assault/riot strider. I think this can be made and done, however I don't think what we have currently is particularly well designed however as it seems a bit confused with it's current fire mechanics harming it's desire to push, and so far my impression of it is, being sigificantly weaker then previous Dante.

This can be changed and fixed with more time, testing and tweaking, so I want to move on from this. This is just a matter of balancing and tweaking, and figuring it's identity out as a new unit.

What I do have a problem with is this new Strider, this new Dante is coming at the cost of the old Dante. Effectively removing a unit to put a new one in it's place. Yes, old Dante had a few small issues but those could similarly be changed and tweaked to make it work.

Reduced rocket fuel to stop it blasting stuff far beyond the implied range with it's D-Gun.

Reduced afterburn for more direct damage to reduce the annoying aspect of it burning your units for what feels like a eternity cause it brushed it with it's AoE.

Making the D-Gun have a longer reload or improvements to the actual basic rockets so that there IS a reason to not always use the D-Gun off cooldown. (or similarly work the rockets into being not a D-Gun but something it actively uses by itself, there is no one way this could be fixed)
