1 @norm0616 - The biggest difference is changing the way shields link. As a direct consequence of the fact that shields do not link with each other directly, even a very large shield network can be locally disabled by EMPing or destroying the nearby generator. This will break the link between those shields and all the other generators. 1 @norm0616 - The biggest difference is changing the way shields link. 3 @GoogleFrog - Valid points. But it was an idea I thought worth bringing up, even though it does complicate the shield system somewhat. It does reduce the effectiveness of small-scale shield use with less investment than one generator's worth, but that reduced effectiveness could also, in theory, have a reduced cost as well. Potentially using Thugs in lieu of a large static generator, for example. 3 @GoogleFrog - Valid points. But it was an idea I thought worth bringing up, even though it does complicate the shield system somewhat. The existing shield generators are ALWAYS behind shields, so I don't consider it a huge problem that a generator would usually be behind shields, especially since it makes a much better target for EMP than a spread cluster of Aegis structures, where missing one means your weapons will be blocked instead of getting past an EMP'd shield. Instead you can EMP a specific target; the generator.

5 It also adds something new for nubs to do wrong. But until something is done about the advanced radar tower, I don't really consider that a fatal problem. 7 It also adds something new for nubs to do wrong.
