I have this problem too. I did not get an error message though. Go to your spring folder. Renake zerok.exe.bak to zerok.exe. Get rid of the old zerok.exe. It will work again but bother you to update.

zerok.exe.bak is not existing on my system. can you maybe upload the running version somewhere?

Last version of ZK lobby crashes for me on start, saying typical "app had to be closed". Luckily, reverting to older exe file works.
Running 32-bit XP (SP3).

Possibly could be this issue awaiting fixing:

Alternatively, try this:

I'm on archlinux and am trying out the flobby alternative client, whilst the issue(s) with the mono-based lobby are resolved.

Might be important to mention im on windows 7.

ZKL update can be disabled (if it would help), there's option called "Disable Lobby Auto Update" under "Debugging" in SETTINGS.

Maybe can disable it temporarily to remove the nagging update message.

Same shit.
Exitting right after launching w/o messages.

WinXP x64 SP2.

Renaming of backup file helped.

Look for any config files in the same folder from which it is run, which need deleting. Also possibly try executing .exe as administrator: right click .exe, left click run as administrator (if I recall correctly).

Same problem here I think - after I updated, lobby crashed, and crashed whenever I tried to start it. Renamed the .bak file and it seems to be working so far.

(EDIT: Windows 7. It was working about 12 hours ago.)

I guess I'll wait to run the benchmark until after this is resolved. (Not that it would make any difference to Spring I imagine, but it's a bit of a headache.)

EDIT 2: When I allowed it to restart after updating it's started crashing again. Lovely. At some point a message saying the following popped up:

"This program requires a missing Windows component

... (blah blah blah) ...

This program requires flash.ocx, which is no longer included in this version of Windows."

none of the workarouds worked for me. it would be really nice if anybody could finally upload the running zero-k.exe for me, beaucse my system did not create the backup.

I have attempted to redownload and install ZK from http://zero-k.info/Wiki/Download .

The executable claimes to be file version 1.3.1.41.

Unfortunately when I try to run the new Zero-K.exe it crashes before the lobby screen comes up (still).

I'm heading out now so I won't be around to answer any questions about my problem for a couple of hours.

why http://zero-k.info/lobby/Zero-K.exe is not downgraded to a running version?

You now need .NET 4.5.1 installed for it to work.
Not sure what on debian but it should work with latest mono.

mono is now upgraded.

i now get the following error:

http://pastebin.com/8ajxxwDc

can't there be temporarily downloads for both .net versions. i dont think such a big upgrade should be done that roughly cross platform. people just auto updated and got randomly kicked out by it depending on their system.

Sorry for that, I asked in other thread for people on linux to test it but only got one response and it was positive so I went ahead.

Well that explains it - Debian stable packages are sooo old. :P

Updated .NET and it works now. I see the relevant thing on the download page is fixed too. Cheers
