Semifinal: Best of 1, Loser of QF-A vs Winner of QF-B, loser finishes 3rd
Final: Best of 3, Winner of QF-A vs Winner of SF
In a best of >1 series, loser of the previous game chooses the next map from the overall pool of 12 maps. (Edit: No map repeats within a series.)

Unfortunately this isn't possible in Swiss since the results of each round inform the matchups in the next. It might be possible in Round Robin (and I think we used to do it sometimes in elimination brackets) but does make it more difficult for casters and watchers to see the games they want to see. If the same players are consistently playing longer games this probably doesn't decrease tournament length much in any case.
