Building spacing borked?

At the start of the game, when I want to build a wind farm, by holding shift and dragging with the left click, I find that the spacing between wind generators is far too large. Yet hitting Z or X does no seem to do anything. It would appear my spacing value is borked; and I cannot fix it.

Thoughts or suggestions?

hokomoko Lynx for some reason Z and X work only during the game

This sounds to me like a bug! Pre-game spacing change does not work. Yet no apparent reason why it shouldn't!

You select unit you want to build -> hold shift -> hold LMB to create couple of said unit in line -> while still holding shift and LMB click Z and X

Besides making windgens stand side by side make them chainsplode.

You are welcome

PS: ATrankhokomoko reffered that this setting is only changeable in game and impossible to change while the game is not running I imagine.

PS2: There is a button beneath your name in each one of your posts called "edit". Editing your post instead of making 3 separate makes the forum less cluttered.

While a little clunky, does it make any difference whatsoever? You can't que up very very large numbers of anything, but you should be able to manually place everything you need with ease. Even if you don't que up anything but your fac pregame it won't hurt your play since there's not enough stuff going on to hurt your play.

It would be good for the UI to be consistent for both types of building placement. It is a complement to the pregame placement system when people do not realize that it is distinct from ordinary placement.

"compliment"? or am I drunk too?

It seems that the pre-game placement adopts the previously employed in-game spacing, rather than going to a sensible default. This would be fine as long as you could change it.

I think I have/had the same issue, which is caused by Zero-K having multiple hotkey settings / the pre-battle widget using a different hotkey setting file :

IMHO the pre-battle widget is generally inconsistent in how it works and presents itself compared to what and how you do things after the start of the battle, and should be made to be consistent (because it also makes Zero-K look sloppy) before any Steam release.

BTW, Spring has had issues with non-QWERTY keyboards for years :

Now, CarRepairer's KeyboardMenu widget is great in helping with that, but it needs more buttons - mostly so as to always display unit states (instead of them being hidden in a sub-tab that is only shown when holding Alt).

Has this been looked into?

The pre-game building thing is just a widget that somebody threw out there, can't expect it to be perfect, it used to just be something that only people with custom widgets had before it came default

It's hardly an urgent issue, I usually only queue lab+mexes pre-game anyway

but what about these people who pre-game insta deploy all buildings, so they have never touch any con/com ingame to win?

Honestly, biggest frustration of pre-game-build is that I can't queue a jump. Spacing is minor compared to that.
