Crabs always get the best view

the dirtbag spike was done without crabe on it, right? (did this once with crabe and, you know, physics. crabe was catapultet.)

Spire was constructed first, then the crab was placed on with a transport.

is its range significantly better than when it is on a normal spire?

Hope that crab doesn't have fear of heights :-p.

The crab range large, but is growth went exponentially smaller per height, i assume. I recall its range cut moderately into that pink army.

I ended up patching this, based on the idea that space is out of bounds. Visiting lower space is fine (such as with Newton), but living there permanently seems to be something that I consistently disallow.

See: https://zero-k.info/Forum/Thread/28677?postID=205627

Here is a rough picture. The Crab there isn't even its final height.

The Crab spire is a lot easier to deal with than previous space habitats. It barely gains range and is destroyed by a single Quake. But still, forcing a particular counter seems poor and it looks really silly, especially with how it interacts with gunships. I added a gradient limit of 140/8 to Dirtbag terraform (usual terraform is 28/8).

A limit of 140/8 lets the simplest form of Dirtbag spire reach 700 elmos, and should barely effect how it works otherwise. This is around the limit I set on Placeholder and Lobster based space stations. I don't want to preemptively make Dirtbag spires impossible so the value is still fairly high.

Here are the heights of some of the early spires to compare.

what is 140/8 compared to your spike height numbers (400/700/1200)

About 700 elmos. If you make a wide mound you can go higher, but it gets tricky and expensive.
