Due to the Scallop changes Amph has no counter to Seawolf any more.

Scallops take a while to surface so Seawolves can easily avoid them or pick off a couple and then retreat before the rest surface. They can kite Ducks perfectly and the only other thing Amph has that can hit underwater is Limpet...

The only thing the Amph player can do vs a decent Sea player is make Urchins on platforms and that's basically giving up map control (also, Siren and Emissary exist).

(the above is not the necessarily the only reason I lost this match, the main reason being I didn't realize Scallops couldn't fire when sunk til quite late and taking a long time to realize the implications)

Interesting. I had heard that Scallop monospam destroys sea.

From what i've seen of this, these things are simultaneously mostly true:
- Scallop absolutely reks everything
- Snake ambush is one of the most effective ways for ship to fight Scallop

Did a bit more checking today. Sirens utterly crush Scallops with a bit of micro and even Hunter can hit and run a Scallop to death in deep water.

I suspect most people just don't realize how vulnerable Scallop is to hit and run.

The big thing I forgot in this particular battle was Lobster.
However, I don't think it's a good solution in 1v1 for a few reasons:
1. It's another unit you have to make, to be cost effective you basically need 2 scallops+lobster instead of a single scallop to protect your constructors/expansions from opportunistic raiding, meaning you'll still have lost map control to Seawolf packs.
2. It's still defeatable by good micro, just retreat away from the thrown Scallops and head back in once they're on the sea floor.
3. Lobster is an extremely pinnickity unit. Very APM intensive to micro properly and often won't do what you want (picking up the wrong units mostly). Not something I'd want to balance amph vs ship with.
