Reclaim problem?

Hey when I was playing chicken eggs on easy, I noticed that when you click the
E" button to reclaim and spread out the circular field you wish to reclaim, the builder/nano will reclaim everything(including stuff you built) in that circular field. I have a feeling this is not a glitch, but wouldn't it make more sense to just reclaim the things that were destroyed or chicken eggs?

It DOES only reclaim wreckages and eggs. I think there's a widget that makes builders reclaim all units of that certain type when you create the area OVER a unit (where the center - the part where you press the mouse button down - is a unit).

Actually this is good feature not a bug and I really like it, for example if you have some useless army lets say you won sea and you dont need those submarines anymore instead of selecting to reclaim one by one you can reclaim all at once.

It's a very old widget that already exists. I used to use in in BA all the time to tech. I'd reclaim my T1 army to boost my T2 tech speed.

By the way when reclaiming alive unit you get only half metal back not all? In ba you get all metal?

40% the same as wreck. its to discourage the sort of crazy strategies google and det used to pull aith reclaiming their factories and constantly switching techs. or reclaiming their whole army of fighters or ravagers in ffa depending on the enemies tech.

Well it should give a little bit more than wreck, since... well... it is alive! and not damaged :)

I think if you would reclaim damaged unit you would get even less metal than reclaiming its wreck which dont really make sense, but maybe I m wrong :)

I support Wolas's opinion that reclaiming live units should give you more then 40%, maybe like 60% or something? At least 50% would be neat. I think that would really do in with the feeling of Zero-K and TA in general where you can teleport metal from one spot to the other without any fuss. At least to me that's how making units feels in Zero-K, you're teleporting the metal from your metalextractors to the factory/build place. So being able to effectively recycle units would add to that feeling.

That said I barely reclaim stuff, but sometimes I switch factory and don't have enough resources to really support it, so I reclaim my old factory. Would be cool to promote such dynamic by being able to reclaim more of your live units/buildings. I don't think Zero-K should discourage any type of crazy strategies.

That being said, if it was a change from an older version, and that effective live unit reclaim has proven to be silly in the years before I started playing, then disregard what I said.

The numbers should make sense and be linear. Debris - wreckages - alive units; 20% - 40% - 60% or 16.7% - 33.3% - 50% or something, you get the point. Same should probably apply to repair and resurrection E costs.

Reclaiming live units gets 50% metal back.

http://code.google.com/p/zero-k/source/browse/trunk/mods/zk/gamedata/modrules.lua

"unitEfficiency = 0.5; -- defaults to 1"

If it is supposed to be 40% it hasn't been commited properly yet.

The purpose was to make your strategic decisions more long-lasting. It was kind of silly to be able to change tactics on a dime by just reclaiming and rebuilding your factory or army. It means your decision-making needs to be more proactive rather than just reactive.

Full reclaim would allow you to change unit composition too rapidly. It is suppose to be 50%.

There were plans to heal units to just above death if they are reclaimed when not on full health but it has not been implemented yet.

Right, it was meant to be the same as wrecks, but when we bumped wrecks down to 40% it stayed at 50%. IMO this is fine.
