Would it be hard to implement factories able to convert their units (in build progress) to energy, dealing damage? and the damage and AOE then increases with unit cost? Scenario: 5 glaives come to an undefended fac, building a Phantom. The player knows that it will be killed if they don't cancel production. Instead, they convert the Phantom to energy, damaging or killing the glaives and loosing a significant portion of metal. What do you think?

The hardest part would be putting a turret model on the factory. However, if we can do that then why not give factories a normal defense turret?

Why give factories a defense turret when you can just build one next to them?

bold claim:
buidling by default a lotus next to your fac can get you into top50.

Building no lotus can get you into the top 10!

Build a casual storage in 1v1 to get into top 10 guaranteed, almost every game before that has someone excess more than 100m

congratulation to you ZArankAstran

I honestly think that there are enough features that make defensive gameplay easy.
Commanders with Radar
Strong static defenses
Big Factory Hp Pool
Big Commander Hp Pool
Your own raiders etc.

I would dislike to see even more features added to this list...

I agree. I feel like adding the proposed weapon would reduce the value of directly attacking enemy factories, or even feel like an active punishment for deep raiding. Deep raids don't need to be punished anymore than they already are in most large team games.

I added a few to the list in future wars and it doesn't seem too bad so far. I've made the game a bit more accessible to new players:

- adv radar is hidden behind a morph so they don't make it without cause.
- rtg adds a nice estall escape route.
- factories have a bit of a defensive bonus around them.
- storage has finally been removed in favor of unit based storage.

Proceeds to cancel plans for Storage v2 and Storage v3, and reconsider the plans for Storage v4, Storage v5, and Storage Superweapon.

can we have a storage strider or storage superweapon please?

Learn to build Lotus like a darkblue, so then you can skip it like a purple.

Cancelling Phantom refunds 100% of invested metal, which shoots your storage to full. You can use this metal to flash-erect a Lotus turret if you have spare build power nearby.

So, essentially, the factory already can do this.

This exists. I have observed 20k cost storages walking around shooting stuff.

The commander has strider-tier cost and gives storage, qualifies as a storage strider? As a bonus sinking metal it into (upgrades) is usually a waste, just like sinking metal into building storages.

Probably we had a misunderstanding. There doesn't need to be a turret on the factory, just a big area explosion with centre on the fac, dealing a good damage and removing the frame of the unit the fac is building. And metal from the frame is lost or torn to pieces.

Time to reveal a little trick i sometimes use:

If you dont have the buildpower rdy to use all your metal, you can start a commander upgrade, get the buildpower in the meantime, start using enough metal so you have free storage and then cancel the upgrade again to get the metal back.

If i am not mistaken this still works
