AquanimIt's astonishing you've been monitoring the thread and judging every reply. I don't intend to label you as something, but you know what infamous fictional character that is like?
Mods actively checking if a thread does what it's supposed to do and intervening when it's deemed otherwise are what I feel very uncomfortable with.
First, what a thread is naturally supposed to do is at the op's discretion, not mods'.
Second, everyone has some integrity and autonomy, esp in this anonymous, international cyberspace. Typically, one deciding to participate the forum has the basis that they find themselves capable of communicating and subject to positive feedbacks from it.
Third, we already have autohiding -5 voted posts.

actually, disputes should be resolved in public by default

This would cause a lot of drama about banal trivialities for no good reason. Case in point, this thread. You could quite easily have asked me the above question directly.
For the record, you believing you know better is not an excuse for deliberately and explicitly disregarding the Code of Conduct.

I showed from avg forum users' and mods' perspective why this thread is abs necessary in public. You not being convinced isn't an excuse for accussing me of disregarding the COC. To put it straight, the clause is vague and can always be bent to mods' favor. I suggest you avoid such suspicions as a mod.
The op made clear the very thread wasn't related to any previous ones. Yet you opted to insist the op was malicious based on your mindset rather than following their present words. Some of you also tried to disrupt the conversation by appealing to the op's identity or motives.
Then I responded by "posting meta-arguments" because I don't think those fallacies are ok on their own, with the hope that thru discourse they would fix their arguments up. Maybe I shouldn't have done that.
Au contraire,
you should be spotting the fallacies.
You should be warning them for their unfriendly replies.
I feel carrying this on will again be categorized as lacking substance so I'll summarize here:
It's ungood of mods to be actively filtering threads. It's ungood of people to be judging others harsh and mean.
