Unit suggestion - how to add some variety to big FFA SL endgames

I would like to suggest a new unit, which, I believe, would make endgames of FFA games on big maps (such as Europe) much more fun to play.
This unit should be a big aerial mothership - a gunship capable of neutralizing super weapons projectiles in a radius of about 2000 elmos (circa chainsaw radius) and with a cost of about 60k metal.
First of all, this unit would affect only big FFA games (which drag for 40+ minutes) since in anything else, there is not enough metal to build such a unit. Many FFA games on large enough maps (SL cannot cover it whole) end with an endgame in which two opposing players both own a SL, middle of the map is a wasteland with horrible pathing and the two players are unable to destroy each other. Eventually, the game comes to an end because of some cloaked cheese invasion, not a conventional attack. There is no rock-paper-scissors mechanism in big FFAs - only gradually larger and larger units and then SL (after which, unless one player is much stronger than the rest, previously described scenario happens). With this unit, it would go like: swarms of units -> striders -> SL -> mothership -> swarms of units. It would stop big FFAs from being an arms race of who will be the first one to build a superweapon - or at least there would be some RPS behind it. Mind you - this unit would only stop damage from one sw, so two sws should defeat it, and it can stop sw shots only in a small radius.
How should it look? It could neutralize sw projectiles by creating a portal right in front of them, once they enter the radius of this defense mechanism. These projectiles (DRP plasma shots, SL laser, bunch of Zenith meteors) would simply just enter the portal and dissapear. A nice idea would be to add a possibility to link two motherships, so that when one mothership absorbs sw shots, the other one could just spit them out in an area where it would be at that moment.

If the problem is that starlight stalls the game because it can't reach the other starlight, then the solution would be to increase starlight range.

This actually gave me an idea, how about the inverse? A superweapon targeting unit.
This would require small changes to supers:
1.All supers get infinite range
2.All supers would only be allowed to fire in range of the targeting unit.

And that's it.

What if just Zenith gets infinite range? I hear it sucks so this would give it a niche without having to redesign SL/DRP.

Zenith is actually the most difficult thing to give infinite range to out of the three - at least without getting defeated by dirtbag mounds.

Yes, it may involve changing the meteor swarm's behaviour to behave well at said range. [Spoiler]

The Zenith cloud could rise/lower to an appropriate height to deal with range issues on most maps. Perhaps the height could even be controllable with some toggle, it is a superweapon after all so some micro seems fine.

I dislike the idea of something that just neutralizes superweapons, they're supposed to be cool and powerful not instantly blocked.
My preferred approach is what I did for my mod and making a superunit that can snipe superweapons (in this case, by making a 60k cloakable flying unit that can transform into a ground unit that has a disintegrator dgun).

Potentially Zenith could just have its meteors fly upwards, despawn, then rain down directly over its target at global range?

Or fly over an arc

That would be boring, ie non-physical. The position of things on the map wouldn't matter at all.

make meteors have a 10% chance to spawn a random chicken when it drops

Or they should do fire damage, or set fire to the units they hit, considering the meteors are on fire when they hit.
