I had this also, fixed it by removing LuaUI directory, but you might want to backup your preference before

How do I reinstall the smart way on Steam? Without redownloading maps etc.

steam -> steamapps -> common -> zero-k -> luaui copy and save the two file "Config" and "Configs", i remember these stores your settings, then
steam -> steamapps -> common -> zero-k -> maps
