I remember using the option where RMB Sets Target instead of Attacking, but I can't find it in the Settings anymore. Could someone point me to the right panel where that option is?

To make matters worse, the Set Target option is causing units to fire towards the general direction of the target even when the target is not in range, wasting shots. This makes Felons from the Shield Bot factory particularly unplayable.

Settings -> Unit Behavior -> Right click sets target

I cannot reproduce the second issue.

Firing towards is triggered by holding down some combination of Alt and Ctrl. Check that the keys are not pressed.

CArankKillectrician is probably holding Ctrl as a consequence of playing shieldbots. That behavior seems like an oversight with the option and it doesn't sound very practical either. I guess the behavior by itself is useful for something like Badgers and Firewalkers.

Factory waypoint sometimes breaks when calling autogroup. New waypoint is battlefield (last mouse click area, etc) and it very annoying, units moving there and could die.

Thanks for the help, I found the setting!

After some testing it looks like performing 'Set Target' while Control is pressed causes units to fire in the direction of the target even when not in range. This behavior is consistent with both Ctrl+T or RMB Click (when RMB sets target).

Is there another option somewhere to not fire in the direction of the target when out of range? Maybe it's another advanced option I turned on?

Can you give some steps to reproduce firing towards a direction?

1. Press T (or whatever keybind you use for Target)
2. Hold Ctrl
3. Left-click

Not you, this

implies that CArankKillectrician is having units fire towards a direction all the time.

Sorry for the confusion, units fire in the direction of the target when out of range only when doing 'Set Target' while Control is pressed.
