At what point is sheer incompetence considered griefing?

Not gonna name any names, but a certain match made me ask this question.

If you rush a striderhub, reclaim all the metal on the frontline and funnel it into more striders, afk the striders and then proceed to donate roughly 30k metal to the enemy team, is that incompetence, or griefing?

If you play a team game with 0 regards to your teamates, i would say you are griefing. Especially if youre VERY much aware of how selfish your playstyle is.

What are your takes on this topic? Is there a limit on how incompetent you can be before its considered griefing?

If somebody is systematically playing in a profoundly selfish way, report them. If the community makes it clear that they do not want to put up with a certain player's attitude any more, the moderators can and will take steps.

Additionally, I think it's always good to ask directly and politely that person to stop doing it, or to be careful or to help front. He will probably not change his behavior on the spot, but he can't say afterwards "but everybody was ok with it" (seen it happened).

Technically I think griefing requires intent.
JUST incompetence should definitely not be sanctioned, with the one possible exeption of someone who is already aware that they are incompetent but chose to foster it because of a complete disregard for the team... but that is a very very problematic thing to "prove".

Edge cases such as these are largely informed by reports. If you have a problem, report it. If nobody reports, then we just have to assume that people are mostly fine with the behaviour.

Someone who disregards the fact that they know how to play the game, while actively disrupting their team, should be punished.
Especially those who have experience, yet disguise themselves as someone new, or having no experience.
