Today I tried to engage ZKV who hold the neighboring planet. Obviously I failed hard, but thats beside the point. We had a nice beef with two battles on our home planet and two on theirs.

The trouble is that out of these four battles, I got pitched in the same team as ZKV three times. That means that I was attacking my own planet together with them! And vice versa they attacked their planet with me. That makes no sense.. ? Shouldnt it always place the attacking and defending clans on opposite sides?

B17543, B17551, B17558 <--- These had us on the same side
B17557 <--- This one we fought opposite sides

That is an issue, although best advice right now is to declare war on ZKV. That way the game will favor balancing you twoards opposing teams.

Sending drops should be like declare war !!!!

While fighting on the own planet we have really shit teams.

I think that's because you try to take our HOME WORLD :D

There should be a HOME WORLD HACK in the code - that would be fine :)

preety much agree here, planet owning clan and ship dropping clans should be on opposing teams, if not trigger war dec auotmatically. Either way although I would advise setting war before doing such a drop the next time.

Huh now thats strange. Guess Licho needs to do a double check or something cause that shouldn't of happened.

Why shoudlnt it happen? You can play on same team with player at war, depends on other factor. . it has to balance lots of contradicting things (balance, team sizes, contradicting inter clan treaties), such things are expected to happen

Why it shouldn't happen is simple. It makes it so your attacking the planet you are defending! This to me is counter intuitive, and to the more unscrupulous, could lead to friendly fire, or other stupidity just to protect the planet.

You dont understand, its impossible to prevent it! For example you can have players a,b,c,d each with war with each other!

Then you will have to play with someone with whom you are at war..

This kind of thing is impossible to prevent and balancing system has to ensure more things than that. You can look at code it looks at millions of combinations to pick best one according to score values.

Licho, I understand you are saying in some cases it is impossible to prevent fighting with players you are at war with. But attack/defense of a planet, isn't that a different thing?

I see. The trouble is in the case Ent mentioned NO ONE WAS AT WAR! Thus the only War trigger should have been G attacking ZKV's planet and vise versa, which 3 out of 4 times ended up fighting each other.

Clan who sent ships to planet is automatically considered to be at war with clan that owns the planet for the balancing purposes.

Yes I said that Licho, and thats why it didn't make sense with what happened, as there was no other war decs out there, and they still ended up on the same teams.

Maybe the whole weight system and Elo system crashes it.

It isn't a 1v1 "Schach".
It is a XvX game.

Maybe we can reduce the Elo weight if we have more than one Elo rating.
One Elo rating is more affected by small teams on big maps, and the other rating is affected by big teams on small maps.

If someone reclaim a building while you are building it, reclaim a unit while you try to rez it, than he will likely get a higher chance for awards ...
We can't use awards to calculate the Elo, because even newbes would get nothing from it.

But can we use statistics?

Can we balance it fairer so that the system don't need to balance attacker and defender so often to the same teams?

Isn't there a hidden possibility who overrides the war weight in some cases?

FIX last sentence:
* witch overrides

Wilk its normal - for example if balancing him in other team would decrease elo balance by 100 points it will prefer this combination

Ah, well I guess we have to hope people are honorable, else we might have some friendly fire issues in the future.

WE already have it !!!

Chicken games with defenders:
1. Make many many shields - it is good because they help your allies recharging.
2. build 3 nuke silos hidden under this shields with 2 nukes each ( thanks to the high alpha value )
3. Get the silos to groups 1,2,3 and all your shields and energy buildings to group 4 so that you can easy select it.
4. zoom out and attack with the nuke silos ( use shift to place the second command )
5. if the nukes appear then self-d anything from group 4.
6. select your silos and self-d it after the second nuke.
7. IMPORTANT: If others blame you after game - your evil brother/sister has played.

Had another case of it: http://zero-k.info/Battles/Detail/18693

Really Licho it needs to get looked at, as Domination penalties makes it more beneficial to throw the game away than to fight with the attacker.
