It does and the AI is not too terrible actually. Admittedly, PA has near zero micro and is more about sending unitblobs at the enemy than controlling individual units.

So you have skirmish, where you can customise the AIs, the teams, the system layout etc.
And then you have a campaign. There is no storyline, just a galactic map with systems controlled by the enemy AIs, and every system battle is basically a skirmish with limited unit unlocks, as you need to unlock some units throughout the campaign.

I bought it some time ago, but I only played a single match.
I definitely want to come back to it, and it's something most Spring devs (particularly those working on TA-likes) should try I think, just to see the differences.
Lobby UI is probably better than what we have for one, and for a game of a similar genre, it might give design hints.

I'm not sure how I feel about the tiny battle room chat window. It draws more attention to the fact that you're about to start the game, and less towards the pre/after game chatter between players.

Is that a good thing because it focuses players more on starting games and less on bashing nubs? Or is that a bad thing because it is more difficult to communicate with friends / newbies who may not notice the tiny chat window off to the side?

A friend of mine bought PA after he played it some hours, i showed him Zero-k. He said it was better than PA, it doesn't need soo much cpu power and is free.
It has more tactical options and the multiplayer is just soo much fun.

I just say, that I never would buy PA.

I'm unsure if buying it or not. It's more than a decade that I stopped buying videogames, so it's a hard barrier for me.

My impression on PA

1.It's mostly a simplified SupCom with interplanetary warfare, but the interplanetary mechanisms are badly designed, and the game lacks some UI features and automations that are important for non-tedious unit management on multiple spheres.

2.The devs seems underestimated how difficult it is to have proper pathing for a huge amount of units on fully 3D terrains, as a result they have to restrict the complexity of terrains, which hurt the gameplay a lot.
