Well I hope with this something will actually happen :)
Idea is to make trailer of short and funny clips(5s - 30s) this should be fast and interesting watchable by anyone, you know these videos something like "best scenes" from X, maybe even each "story" with different music separated by some 0.5s TV noise. So we could pick up best clips and make 1:30 funny trailer.
If 1/10th of you would made 1 video we would have ~30 funny videos and could pick up best make such video/trailer. Even pasting link into doc to demo is already nice. Also we should setup online(how to enable /cheat and so on?) complex scenes which cant be done alone(like crabe scene find it in doc I tried to make it 5+ times each time crabe walks down...)
I wrote mine ideas here feel free to add your ideas, by add I mean add dont modify other people ideas, unless its some minor fix. Add videolink if you had done your or other people idea, or demo link (best is to use vimeo since it allows to download raw upload file)
https://docs.google.com/document/d/1b2umeArR0m02L2KAyYPqPjOdMkLkKfaEhw1O40OWF90/edit EDITABLE BY ANYONE
Format 1080p on highest settings use ctrl+shift+F10 to pop up encoders window(works on windows only) or whatever on linux, I had to reboot after 20day(its not server so its high!) uptime to windows...
INSTRUCTION how to get solid 30fps video on max settings with whatever PC:"raw" unedited video shouldnt be longer than few mins or you will have horribly big files size.
0. Generate idea, or use doc above to find some funny ideas. Use these cmds for faster to setup scene(write into chat) /cheat /nocost /globallos /give unitname(/give commrecon2 /give corrsumo, give 100 /corrcan (jack) and so on find all units in zk svn/units/*)
1. first record demo.
2. playback demo, it is in demos folder double click it(zero-k lobby doesnt show local demos?). Or open with spring. Then either use lichos camera recorder(read help it kinda works) or use just static camera or alt+t to track unit
2.1 hit ctrl+shit+F10 game will freeze you might need alt-tabing or task manager to get to the encoders window(minimize spring from task manager and encoder window will pop-up, use x264(I dont even remember how I installed it) codec on fastest(might need reencode) or "high compression"(then you can upload it straight to vimeo) and set quality quantesizer to constant quality to 5 or less. 1 = too big file 50 too shitty quality ). Best is just to run spring in windowed mode, I bet even 1600x1050 screen users can do 1920x1080 in windowed mode so there is no excuses!
2.2 in case you recorded with fastest compression and file size is too big or if you have slow upload you might want to reencode on higher compression but lower file size, better just use high compression(this doesnt mean bad quality it means slow compression)
3. file is in My documents/My games/spring/video*.avi upload to vimeo and modify doc add link to "story"
this was just test, since my laptop wasnt able to playback 1080p at full speed (1.1GB x264 file) video was choppy I thought that that ctrl+shift+F10 works badly, then I thought bitrate was too high but I was lazy to reencode it to 720p so I just uploaded it to youtube and after few mins I saw that video isint choppy at all. Specs are CPU c2d 2.2Ghz, GPU 9600gt so hardware shouldnt be problem to anybody. For me it was 1 - 2 fps when recording from game.
If you need help to make your idea true, feel free to ask mine help I will help at most of times(still how to enable cheating when hosting games?)
I also need help on some scenes.
