The function of upgradeing small to big radar (as seen in FW) seems to be a quite comfortable idea how about implementing it in the main game too?

How about morph radar to owl, instead of the useless scout plane. It's just 100 extra metal or so.

small -> big
small -> sparrow
small -> owl
big -> owl
owl -> big

unknownrankTinySpider like those 4?

Nevermind I checked costs, big radar to owl sounds perfect.

It was already discussed in this thread and I still don't think it's good for the team-dynamic of the game - although the idea is still sort of logic & nice.

There is a barrier in getting too good/usefull units too fast ... there just shouldn't be always a fast lane - especially not for intel. I do like the idea of the BYO factory as MOD, but don't like to have this trend in the core-game.

I'm not so sure about Radar -> Adv Radar. Getting constructors into position when and where you want to build a structure is non-trivial for a reason.

It's done in FW as a means to gate newbies into building radar to get to adv radar as well as clean up the misc tab so other buildings can be added (IE: Big Shield). It's a stopping point to reconsider radar placement. Immediately jumping to adv radar tends to hurt newbies more than it does veterans, especially when they're not aware of radar shadows. With radar->adv radar, you're forced to consider your radar placement first and you're given a "cool off" time to reconsider. A smaller QoL feature that might be more acceptable would be adding sonar to radars:

* It allows you to preview LOS gain.
* It's used in sea, so having sonar makes sense.
* LOS of basic radar is pretty low as is, so adding it won't hurt much balance wise.

So small -> big radar is bad cuz: - DErankiwantusername : "Good usefull units to fast"
- You can directly bulid big radar i dont get the point of your argument.

- AUrankAdminGoogleFrog : "Getting constructors into position"
- How did the small radar get there in the first place?

unknownrankShaman : "Immediately jumping to adv radar tends to hurt newbies"
- If you can morph it later the trap or building big ones at the beginning gets softened.

If you wanted to build Adv Radar at the time then you would have just built Adv Radar, no morph required. In this situation the morph would just make the Adv Radar cost less BP. If there is a time gap then the constructor has walked off to do something else by the time you want Adv Radar, or you're wasting a constructor. There is a lot of game to how constructors flow around the map.
