I'm studing some units interactions and may end up making guides, is there some tool to make small video snippets, like those being made at Cold Take?

OBS Studio is good for taking screen recordings.

You should also use the "Show input visualizer" option in Zero-K; if appropriate (Settings/Hud Panels/Extras/Display Keys/Show input visualizer).

When I use OBS on my machine(AMD GPU) I have an assortment of capture problems. I've heard there's some Radeon AMD program that does screen recording better (for amd gpu)

I used Ashampoo Snap 15 to screen capture and its a doddle.

I made the Cold Take gifs like this:
  • Record the game with OBS.
  • Zoom in to a small area of time and space with ShotCut.
  • Export to MP4.
  • Use ShareX to convert MP4 to gif.

Steps 2-4 were repeated many times in some cases to get the gif below the 5MB limit.

Could also just record/capture the gif directly on your screen with ShareX

That is very finicky due to the way the start of the recording has a random slight delay.

I've used https://ezgif.com for various gif/apng stuff in relation to the discord and such, but then those need to be super duper small in size so a lot of tweaking is required
