Can I take control at a certain moment in a game replay and engage in a completely new battle with the AI?

I just started playing this game and I'm not very familiar with the game's features and controls. I tried to control my units using /cheat in a replay, but the recorded actions from the replay are still being carried out, and when the replayed actions end, the AI does not continue to act.

How can I achieve the effect I want? I would be very grateful if anyone knows the answer and is willing to help.

Only thing I've noticed is if the player active the cheats and global spec control, then, in the replay you can control units.
But as soon as player or AI issue an order, it will be applied and cancel the spec order.
Replay file is just a list of orders to units I believe.

I never heard of such a feature, I think technically it would be not very complex, just that nobody put the (small) effort required. As Helwor mentions, the missing part is stopping sending future orders from some point in time...

You need godmode enabled.

Okay, it seems that such a feature is not very common, and it goes by the non-standard name of "resume a game from a replay." StarCraft II has this feature, which allows you to replay past games for practice. Unfortunately, StarCraft II cannot be played permanently offline, so it's not to my liking.

In Zero-K, I've decided to do this: I manually save the game multiple times during a match, so after the game ends, I can reload these saves and replay the game from different points in time.

One drawback I've noticed is that for the first few seconds after loading a game, the AI seems to be in a chaotic state and will definitely retreat, even if I'm easily defeated. After about 10 to 20 seconds, the AI appears to have figured out the situation and starts to re-engage. I hope this doesn't significantly affect the AI's performance level.

Thank you all for your answers. I enjoy the intelligent unit AI in this game, which makes them feel like trained soldiers, and that's one of the reasons I came here. I hope we can keep enjoying this game, and I wish everyone happy gaming.

That's just how cuircuit AI plays.

Watch a replay vs AI from the beginning, or better yet, make 2 AI play each other.

You'll see that until the AI figured out it can deal a killing blow, it'll have pretty much half of it's army patrolling its base, only responding to threats.

AI has a TON of APM dedicated to miticulously controlling a dozen scouts to find the tiniest crack in your armor, and then it sends a GIANT file of units down that one path.
