I like the idea and the initiative but I don't really feel those pictures are in accordance with the current style. That might just be my opinion though; I hate gradients.

The emblem images don't matter, I just threw something together. I could just as easily have wireframe boxes color coded with wording something like "Dante Donor", "Bantha Donor", and "Detriment Donor". What did you think about the logo?

New and old logo are both good. Perhaps the new one looks more professional and badass, but it also feels a little more generic with the shapes and colors. Maybe because it reminds me of the way artists' names are written in dubstep album covers. :P Donor tags are a great idea, and Zag's icons could work fine (even if they're rather plain). Also, donor tag should have some time (12 months) when it goes away - the costs are running, after all. Perhaps some people who make a real big donation could have a donor tag that stays forever. Maybe even a new rank for them (platinum).

The font I used for the logo was BatmanForever, but if the logo is good enough to replace the old one, I need to redo it anyways, so changing font would be a minor issue. Platinum could be Detriment Donor and Gold could be demoted to Commander Donor. :P

Donors should be shown similar to a rank icon. Has anyone seen the reddit gold icon? Check out the little gold star next to the user's name. We could have a bronze, silver, gold, platinum, etc icon based on donor status. It's much simpler but still conveys the point. On a similar note, since I know Licho is reading this thread: Can we have a framework to give kudos to OTHER players? I don't think I'll use Kudos much myself, but I would definitely give them to people who are nice in the game or who make good content for the game. CaptainBenz, for example. I would have given him some Kudos for the amazing work he's done with some of the new unit models.

I feel horrible for losing the font for the logo to a hd crash, I've spent hours retracing where I might have found it. The new proposal looks pretty good, except I really don't like the R and K letters. The descenders look crooked, hunched and out of place. You can also see the cutoff of the eclipse flare at the top which needs cleaning up. quote:

but they do matter :) they are displaying information and presentation matters, especially if its given out as a reward. You wouldn't want the trophy for the world cup to be some greasy rusty scrap metal statue now, would you? That said its a good idea, although what determines the level of donor award? Why are there only three levels?

I don't really see why we need a new logo. What exactly is wrong with the current one so that it needs to be replaced? The donor tag isn't a bad idea, but as others have said the embossed gradient doesn't really fit with the rest of the icons or compliment the forum style.

We're already planning the donor thing. I'm not against changing the Zero-K font but it needs to be definitively better than the current. The eclipse logo on the other hand, stays.

@The_Yak There isn't a need for a new logo, but I wasn't very fond of the old one, so I made a potential alternate. As for the "Donor" badges, the images I made were not the important part, the important part was the idea of having some donor tag beneath a user's name on the forum.

Currently logo isn't bad, although it does kind of lack a particular distinctiveness. Compare to something like Xonotic's logo:  Holy smokes, that is a nice looking logo. That probably was the work of a professional though, and I don't think any of us here are professional artists.
