madezI don't know why I bothered to watch the game. I guess it's because for some inexplicable reason your post was upvoted.
What you claimed: It's possible in a standard (non mod, non speedmetal...) match to build enough shields to stop a SL.
What I claimed: No, not in a normal match.
You pointed to a match where you claimed it happened.
What actually happened: a DRP was already built when a SL was turned on and the DRP was already shooting at the SL when it started targeting. The SL barely had the time to reach the DRP when it got at first depowered, and then stunned.
The second time, the SL had a bit more time to shoot and it would have punched through the shields eventually, but the DRP was once again already shooting at it as soon as the SL was powered and the other team didn't have nearly as much shield.
So basically, yes, the SL could have pounded right through those funnels. Would it have taken time? Sure. But that's because you set up the specific cirucmstance where the SL is in a position to be disabled before it can punch through. That's not the same claim at all than the SL can't punch through shields.
That's a VERY selective pick that doesn't even represent your claim.
I looked at the values in that version in case things changed. SL does 5400 dps. Aegis regens 50hp/s. That's 108 aegis to match the SL dps. That costs 56700 metal. All the aegis need to cover the location the SL is shooting at because they won't be able to transfer shield fast enough if they need multiple jumps... and even if they could, that would be 56700 metal all in one tiny part of the map when the SL is free to shoot anywhere else... unless it's already being shot at by a DRP OF COURSE. Almost the entire cost of the SL only to protect one spot on the map.
Reverse the roles. Give west the SL built first and east the DRP second. DRP dead. Easy. I don't see how that supports your claim at all.
Oh and by the way, the SL got stunned because blue shocker AOEs and east's funnel were barely covering the SL so it got stunned by AOE... not because it "chewed to the shieds". Move those funnels forward and I'm not sure the DRP lives.
Here's a claim to match yours:
I can beat a F1 car in a race, on foot.
The F1 car starts on the other side of the planet. I start one step away from the finish line. Conclusion: I am faster than a F1 car.
