Theres some degree of etiquette and strategy involved. Obviously if nobody is gonna take it its better if you take it. But in theory reclaim should be grabbed by the player in that area, otherwise he'll have trouble fighting the enemy player in his area.

If you come from another area and take the reclaim you will end up strenghening your area while weakening his. That is a gamble that you will put the excess metal into crushing through and winning the game, on a time limit while the person you weakened delays his inevitable death and crushing of that area into your backlines.

Im exaggerating a bit but thats the logic behind it. As far as the etiquette, if you didnt kill the unit or lose it you dont really deserve it is probably what most people think.

Imo when considering pure reclaim, it's definitely open for all and, in fact, everything should be sucked as quickly as possible.

BUT - resurrection is where it starts to become complicated. If there's a Krow wreck and a player with 10 Athenas, then reclaiming that wreck is just a Bad Move(tm).

Maybe wrecks that are being resurrected should be unreclaimable, and constructors could also stop reclaiming a wreck if it started getting rezzed.

Still, even this wouldn't remove all the conflicts between reclaim/rez.

i have seen way more cases of useless ressurrects than the opposite case (sprang's krow example) so imo the system is fine, and reclaiming stuff shouldn't be bannable even if it's being resurrected

As I see it the idea behind reclaim is to add a location-locked source of income to the game. It is open to the team that manages to claim and hold it. Of course this means fighting for it, especially if it is of high value. Anyway, in the end it's claimable - all you gotta do is send a Detri to protect it.

Does that answer your question? I think it doesn't, because that's not what you wanted to hear. I'll try another way, maybe this one's better:

The "TEAMS" room is about teamplay. Team play means there are two sides: us and them. (I'll skip FFAs and similar rare exceptions for sake of simplicity.) There's only one way to win and that is defeating the opposite team. This is important to say, because many - possibly most - people miss that. Let me make this clear: A player can not win in any way without their whole team winning.

Now what does that mean?
It means that in the end there is no difference between players of a single team. They all work - or should be working - towards a common goal that is defeating the team's opponent. There are many ways to do this and they all work better with serious hardcore teamplay.

Here's a few tips, maybe they should go into a guide eventually:

* Your spawn position is only temporary. It does not force you into a specific role, or into a specific area on the map. Keep this in mind when looking for weak spots in the enemy defense. Also keep this in mind when looking after your own, ie your team's weak spots. I often spread my army across the whole front, from one end of the map to the other, just because that means all enemy players have to deal with these units. That's why air can be so efficient, but same applies to Sharpshooters, Morties, Slashers, Ticks, anti air, FLEAS, etc.

* Nothing belongs to a player, everything belongs to your team. Make sure your units are used effectively. If a teammate asks for builders and you can afford it, give them all your idle ones, or half of yours, or build a factory and give it to them. Don't just share a single builder, or it's gonna spend two minutes building a factory, that's usually a lot of possibly useful APM (actions per minute) wasted.

Got too much buildpower? Make sure you repair allies.
Enemy units hardcounter yours? See if you can't switch lanes with an ally.
Someone stalling energy? Share eco and check if you got buildpower near a mountain or geospot.
Ally got a ressing unit nearby? Adjust your cons to only reclaim debris.

Can you set things to only reclaim debris with an area command?

Thats how things work in say a high elo team room. But in the all welcome team rooms 70% dont even read the chat, let alone adapt to different areas of the map or share anything. And as players thats something that you have to adapt to not just play in a fantasy world where teamwork exists. Or you could get frustrated trying to teamwork with mutes and lose. The strongest trategies in the all welcome room are the ones that dont rely on teamwork and amusingly ones that would get countered by teamwork but dont due to the lack of.

If the air players not good enough at backing up, it ends up in dota-like lanes where if one player gets to the furthest end they wipe your teams eco and win. So if the high elo players end up mismatched it becomes a race of who can crush the noob fastest. As ridiculous as it is, the localized reclaim does affect these self imposed "lanes".

Of course the higher the average elo the less likely this is to happen.

Imho you shouldn't reclaim units which your teammate ressurects.
The exception are situations where there is no time to ressurect because enemy is about to take the territory and reclaim themselves.

In most other cases ressurection is beneficial over reclaim, even if it takes much longer to finish.
Most of the ressurection cost is in rezzers themselves, but since your teammate is ressurecting already it means that he already covered the cost of Athenas or commorph and now it is profitable for the team that he ressurects as much as he is able to.

Of course you may need metal as fast as possible but usually there is a lot of wrecks on field, so you can just reclaim others. So just give Area Reclaim order, it won't autoreclaim stuff that is being rezzed.

Wreck that is being rezzed can be reclaimed only by targetting it manually, and it happens sometimes that your cons start reclaiming such wreck by accident.
But don't give such reclaim order intentionally! Doing so not only wastes the energy and buildpower that your teammate has put into partially ressurecting the wreck. IT DIRECTLY DRAINS METAL FROM YOUR TEAMMATE, because his cons start refilling metal back to the wreck you reclaim. So the effect is very similar as reclaiming ally nanoframes. So don't ever do this. If for some reason you have to reclaim that wreck, tell him to stop the rezzing first, so it won't drain all his stored metal into refilling the wreck (it drains really fast).

That's how things work in any game, not just high elo ones, PRrankScrangos. I constantly see teamplay of different scale in the all welcome room. Players don't have to be progamers to follow these simply rules, anybody can do that.

now what about when your auto reclaim order is given it is not being rezzed?? like for example you see are that area needs a major reclaim and no one is there so you got to send your rescources to reclaim the metal like have def or enough mobile unit to defend it that cost eco too!!

If you give area reclaim order your cons will immediately leave alone a wreck once one of your teammates comes and starts rezzing it.
But if you targetted the wreck itself without using area reclaim, then it will keep reclaiming, so either you should stop reclaiming or your teammate should stop rezzing. Depends on the situation. If the wreck is like 50% rezzed then reclaiming it is a huge waste.

What about it? You just reclaim stuff. That's perfectly fine then. Once you notice ppl are ressing you can stop reclaiming, as long as they don't start ressing once its down to 5% metal or so, 'cause that's pretty expensive.

wrong it does not unless you made a update

As far as I know area reclaim commands only ignore things that are ressed if ressing starts before the wreck itself is being reclaimed. Gonna try it eventually.

maybee this is the question im asking here.

if you give a command to reclaim before he gives his command to rez who has claim to it??

There is no such thing as claim.

Wrong.
I just tested it and I am sure.
The moment allied rezzer starts rezzing the wreck, all your reclaiming cons with Area Reclaim order stop reclaiming it and leave the wreck alone and go reclaim the next one in the area.

so like for example i decided i need metal so i build a few conns to do reclaim and my @#$ of a teammate decide he dont like it.and wants the resource to. and has every right to take what rescources are out there in wrecks wright?? if so im give you forum karma.

Nice, I wasn't aware that the behavior I asked was already there, Rafal! Does it work that way with the fight command too?

And vulte, let's consider the scenario where there are no resurrectors on the battlefield. In that scenario, everyone should rush to get as much reclaim as fast as they can. Everything that your team gets is away from your enemies. And even if you overflow metal, it still goes to your allies.

still trying to justify your teamkilling vulte?

The answer is, as ever, communication and cooperation. Work it out with makers. If people would actually work as a team and not be so intransigent then you could work it out. As a rule of thumb, I would say that resurrecting a wreck takes priority over reclaiming it, especially if the player resurrecting it has plenty of units on it. In practice this will probably not happen because it is high micro, but if people would just work it out between them there would be a lot less conflict over it.

Player 1 "I will resurrect this wreck"
Player 2 "No, I am reclaiming it"
Player 1 "I should resurrect it because a Dante with no metal cost is more useful than a fraction of the metal cost of said Dante"
Player 2 "Ok, that would be more useful, resurrect it"

Is much better than:

Player 1 "I will resurrect this wreck"
Player 2 "No, I am reclaiming it"
Player 1 "I should resurrect it because a Dante with no metal cost is more useful than a fraction of the metal cost of said Dante"
Player 2 "I WILL ROACH AND TERRAWALL YOUR FACTORIES AND RECLAIM IT ANYWAY!!!"

Just ask the other party about it and if you disagree, the one with higher elo gets the decision.
