air transport for sea units

Why is it not possible to transport ships via air?
Is it due to an implementation limitation, a design choice, is it something that has been tried before and dismissed?
Given the size of land units that can be carried, it just feels like a very artificial limitation.
Subs should remain untransportable by air.

imo especially subs would be cool to transport !

Battleship drop would be brutal, though not that much more so than dante/det/cata really.

Seems cool might need its own transport but.

It's probably because it has never been that way and sea still needs a bit of work. So noone has changed it. I think I recall thinking of it a while ago but it was impossible in the engine, I'm pretty sure it is possible now.

I suppose it could be tried. I'm not sure about applying it to subs and Battleshi and Carrier would have to be untransportable because they are suppose to be weak to sneaky subs and transports sort of counter that.

How about bring back that air trans that let units fire while being carried.

The major issue that I see with this is what happens when the transport dies over land? Would the ship die? Would it be stuck? Take constant damage? Slide downhill?

The best suggestion I can think of for this would be slide down hill until it hits flat land or water taking damage until it stops. I think that maybe it should be able to fire but try to make the ships land so that they don't have full range of fire (can shoot off one side, but the only really close on the other because it's setting at an angle).

Transporting the carrier seems a bit much, but if it were allowed, I would suggest that spawning of drones be disabled in flight (carrier-napping possible).

I could see subs being transportable with the limitation of allied subs (enemy subs won't surface for transport).

Overall, I think it's a good solution for mixed maps as hovers are the only surface based unit that can currently traverse them. Puddle jumping would be a great way to allow recapture or reinforcement of a secondary water area and give new meaning to anti-air on the land between.

I've made the change to see how it works. Ships are atomised if the transport dies while over land.

A flying battleship?
* It's a spaceship :D
* A Spaceship without AA

It seems right that they leave wrecks - they aren't supposed to take that much damage what a simple rock would do to a single point of the hull and the full force powered by the own weight - bomb singularities from a very high altitude would be nice - let's drop a Skuttle or some ships from orbit :)
* make bomb ships.

A flying Battleship would be like a reverse Krow - exchange health and dmg/s

Some players would try to make holes like @ Tech Annihilation @ Greener_Fields no wind.
* To make Battleships.
