Welcome,

(This post mail is also available on http://gaming.stackexchange.com/questions/147405/how-to-run-zero-k-under-linux where you can see the attached picture)

I followed the howto on http://zero-k.info/Wiki/Download on my Linux Mint 15 64 bit Cinnamon.

After logging-in here and there opening the Lobby with mono Zero-K.exe and pressing the big button Play Now on "http://zero-k.info/Missions/Detail/156", I believe after waiting for the map download, the game should somehow start. What happens, is that after pressing the button, the focus switches to the lobby client, and something invisible is happening on the bottom of its window:

strange, maybe you can run it from terminal and there is some error output?

Alternative you could use springlobby for Linux ( http://springlobby.info/landing/index.php )

Yes, there is an exception in the command line. I can't post it here, because of the apparent forum error (something along the lines A potentially dangerous Request.Form value was detected from the client (...). It seems, the forum doesn't like Zero-K.exe error dumps. Who does?)

So I've updated the question on SA: http://gaming.stackexchange.com/questions/147405/how-to-run-zero-k-under-linux

Ad alternative lobby:

I'm afraid installing the alternative spring lobby from that address wouldn't be that easy. It depends on the current spring engine, which is incompatible with the Zero-K. But I hope I'll success in compiling it from source.

Dunno about the error.
In springlobby u just need to set the game path and for libunitsync.so.
You don't need to compile it, there is a static linux build for spring 91.0

I find that forum error occurs when you have a "/" in your post. I don't know why, it is quite annoying. You can use pastebin.com for logs. Just upload it on pastebin and link that here.

This is closely related to bug
http://code.google.com/p/zero-k/issues/detail?id=1899

Those bugs have been reported a long time ago but never fixed. I'm not sure it is related to the problem of not starting, but it needs to be fixed.

No, the forum bug preventing us from posting logs is because of the "filename unknown" stanza looking like an HTML/XML tag (less than, greater than), and improper/insecure parsing in the forum code... to which a dumb layer of "reject anything suspicious" to prevent some types of exploitation was added. That's something else that would need to be fixed, because yes, it is annoying (and it fails at preventing exploitation anyway).
