New options should be:

- starting extraction speed,

- ending extraction speed,

- amount of metal extracted before speed become "ending",

- law by which speed is decreased (linear, 1/x, cut-off).

[cut-off - for example, in Starcraft starting speed for gas extraction can be counted as 8, and ending - as 2; for minerals ending speed - as 0.]

Better to make counting of extracted metal for each spot, not in sum. But if too hard for programmers or they are lazy, for beginning may be overall counting.

This will make game more strategic, like classic, non-meaty games.

P. S.
Simple decreasing of extraction speed (which was available before physical servers were changed) was not enough. Players should have options to set finite metal.

Cool! If you need some help coding, you might look into the finite metal gadget in DErank[2up]knorke 's Hotstepper.

Skillerman I believe he wants for mex to be depletable, like Starcraft gass refineries, ect you get 8 gass per barrel untill it depletes and only gives 2 per barrel.
He's probably been in a lot of stand-off games lately where nobody doesn't nothing big for whole game untill someone nukes the other team :/
And by "Meat" I'm pretty sure he's refering to just having so much metal income your factory is working 24/7 on just throwing out units to die hoping they'll make a breach, ect swarming the map with "meat".

New players thinking along with the game is always nice. I understand why you would want to change the passive, stand-off, buildup game.

I'd advice so play with not too many players on a map. Smaller team games are far more action packed than the bigger. Especially with a lot of new players.

Now, Starcraft suffers from the exact same problems but people just got better at it. Sitting on your main+natural and max out on battle cruisers?

Another thing with ZK is that is offers 100 different types of turrets. Turrets are cheap, effective, don't take any of your attention to use etc... For new players it is very easy to lockup the game for a considerable time. Just as in Starcraft, we'll just have to learn how to deal with it. There are plenty of options.
I think ZK is just as strategically interesting as Starcraft with it's current eco system.
