13 I assume you know this, but I'll reiterate because it is important. Armies tend to fight better if the enemy is running towards them rather than if they are running towards the enemy. Lotus is great partially because you can't beat it by running away, so defending one with your army creates conflicting desires in the attackers. To efficiently defend your expansion you should be waiting for the enemy to come to you. 13 You probably know this, but the retreat advantage was a big part of this game. Armies tend to fight better if the enemy is running towards them rather than if they are running towards the enemy. Your smaller army was enough to scare off the larger army, but not enough to force the larger army to stop floating around your territory.
