6 That mushroom thing actually bothered me a little when I first heard about it as a kid. But if I were to sell them, for example, and I had a Vegetables and Meats section, I'd put them into Vegetables. A mushroom at least seems to be closer to plants than to animals in that regard. I guess that's the kind of thing I'm looking for here, too.
