Full clan stack? How many clans can do it, if clan has members from all kind of timezones and member count is over 7 or so...

But clan ladder page that treats each clan as a one whole entity rather than sum of elo of all members / N members sounds interesting.

Might be possible for clan to secure much more elo than "members average" by competing good.

And the game i posted Anarchid was not noobery

What i meant was that such games are rare, and to get a channel with regular non-clusterfail teamgame casts, more such games are needed:

tl:dr team commentaries is a brand that needs more material to create; above i'm proposing a method for production of said material.

Hence the regular clanwar proposal.

Sad fact: there are only 4 serious clans in ZK, and up to 10 if you consider "not serious", but still capable.

Everybody would be guaranteed a top10 spot in such ladder.

For example Mean clan...i see at least 4-5 of my clan in weekends, so if i ask them and talk with them we can arange a battle if 1 clan is interested. And yes..clan elo will be nice, make default clan elo to 1000, and make !cbalance to balance clan members only and remove other clans from that team, making it free full clan stack. In clan battles for example player elo doesnt count so much....i saw that in the game i posted.Trandsti..Anarchid,Vistritium and Ivory are standard 1 vs 1 players and can kill fast if they merge forces, thats why game was verry interesting.Fail for that game was when 1 of the best 1 vs 1 players in theyr team went planes that needs lots of gaming in teamgames to perfect it.mojjj would have done nice plane fight but it was theyr choice and thus theyr fail in doing it so.
What i want to say is...that Anarchid, Vistritium, Trandstic...easily beats me Saabir , Warlock, maybe ddabadabb, and dont know about angrypig( i didnt saw him doing lots of 1 vs 1). in ground...so elo didnt count so much.We will need to forcestart lots of times in team game battles because normal elo doesnt count so much, and also some players dont take into consideration in doing theyr best in games and having theyr fair elo, cause from what i saw some of them troll instead of proper fighting, and if they do proper fighting they will end up with top 5 6 7 or more with tons of elo.So from what i said is that we must manual balance a lot...and make agreement partnership between those 2 teams on who will play. From that game that i mentioned again i can say that only me, Saabir, Angrypig, Vistritium, Anarchid, trandstick, Ivory, mojjj had proper team elo...so game was a bit broken, but of course it didnt take into consideration the 1 vs 1 elo(some 1 vs 1 big elo players have like 1900 team elo) a thing i saw it unfair...If we want to make clan battles elo nicer we need it to make it balance with arithmetic average of both elo.Forgot to mention to remove elo giving ,losing for players that do clan battles, so they will dont worry so much about it like some players do:P.

Doesn't matter, joining clan should be same to leaving your peaceful individual game and step up for synergy team driven battle. :D

My plan is to focus on 1v1, since it needs more love and is generally the competitive game type in RTS games. I would be willing to do 2v2-4v4 as I get more experience casting ZK. 5v5 with experienced players communicating well might work, but I'm pretty sure 3v3 or 4v4 is the limit for generally coherent games.

I love Shadowfury's work. Some questions and comments...

I wish you'd zoom in once in a while so viewers can see the detail of the units and special effects. Doesn't have to be often, maybe a handful of times per game, right when you anticipate a few units battling eachother.

You have the black outline going but I thought that it only shows when you zoom out far enough. There were a couple of rare times you zoomed in and the outline was still visible the entire time. I would like people to see that ZK models are not cartoons. I appreciate your setup where the outline shows up when you're way zoomed out for visibility, but I wish it weren't for the entire video, maybe only half.

Your commentating skills are excellent but I found the choice of games to be a little bit boring. That's not your fault, but there must be some good 1v1 games that last more than 10 minutes and have some more tension. Some were alright. The fact that I enjoyed watching these casts for battles I didn't find that interesting is a testament to your skills.

And regarding the clan teamgames, sure a clan game would be great, but you can just as easily round up some top tier players who aren't in the same clan and get a great game going. I would love to see Shadowfury commentate a 2v2 or 3v3 as I find those games more interesting to watch than a 1v1 that lasts a few minutes where one player makes a mistake and the game ends.

All in all this is amazing, just like those Starcraft casts. Keep up the great work. Subscribed!

I think someone should comentate this battle: http://zero-k.info/Battles/Detail/155718
It's the tourney battle between anarchid and ddab where ddab traps a dante in terraform. It is fun to watch and shows various facs (cloakies, shieldbots, gunshits and planes -and striders-)

This is a match, hard one that i didnt expect the outcome.I admit that i was having tons of headakes playing it but at least i learned tons of things, and its a 1 vs 1 which took more then 10 minutes and its verry interesting battle.
With Godde's aprovel i hope it will be commented:D.

One more thing, turn off fog of war unless you want to look at it briefly to see if a player sees something. It's weird to see one of the players always in darkness.

USrankAdminCarRepairer: Is there a setting to make the player focus not change when selecting units? If so, I could just go into spectator view (hit '0') and have the vision from all players' units at once, rather than one at a time. That would keep all players' units in vision while making it obvious where there are units at all.

I can definitely zoom in more, and I would like to. I enjoy showing off visual effects, but I also want to make sure the viewer doesn't get disoriented. As for outlines, as nice as ZK models are, they aren't (nor should they be) photorealistic. People tend to complain a lot less about, and often even praise, non-photorealistic graphics when they have a hard outline or are Cel shaded. Those effects tend to skew expectations away from reproductive fidelity and towards art style and aesthetic appeal; which if you aren't CryTek, Epic, Bethesda, or id is generally what you want people to focus on.

Player focus on select is a widget that can be turned off..

Regarding LOS it would be best to show both player LOS at once

Just click on the little radar button under the minimap to turn off the fog of war.

You can change the smoothness of the zoom using a slider in the Camera Control settings. I just get disappointed when there's a small battle and the viewers just see tiny tanks from a distance. I guess it's up to how carefully you handle the camera to keep them from getting disoriented. Doesn't have to be every 10 seconds, but at least a handful of times so folks can see the units up close.

I guess this is subjective, because I enjoy seeing the models up close without an outline. I do think that the intent is to be closer to photorealism, because the alternative is to look like cartoon sprites. Everything else in the game is also intended to look photorealistic, from the detailed terrain to the shadows. So in a way the outline actually clashes with the rest of the look, and becomes MORE noticeable and hard to ignore. Take for instance this other spring game called Conflict Terra. Their intent is cartooniness, and they even design their maps around that (trees and all). So outline fits perfectly with their game:

One doesn't have to remove all detail to still allow for a slightly cartoon look. For example: Steel Storm:

I'll look into the zoom speed thing and spectator selection widget disabling.

Don't forget lucky's videos! It's just three and the first one's a bit low volume, but nevertheless:

Lucky is actually one of my favourite commentators, his voice is great and his knowledge of the game really shows. He should do more commentaries.

And Shadowfury has done another Zero-K replay! woo!

P.S edited the images into links in the post before last, those images were too big).

It is just a news-post when Shadowfury333 started doing zK videos.

This is not the place to try and collect all youtube channels.
Better make a real page to collect videos, or update http://zero-k.info/Wiki/Media
It is meant well but forum is bad place for this because there is always offtopic and well, zero-K has a real website so use that.
For example here: http://zero-k.info/Wiki/Media#Commentated_Gameplay_Videos
For tourneys maybe someone wants to continue updating of http://code.google.com/p/zero-k/wiki/TourneyArchive and add it in menu or something.

Those high elo games look pretty tempting. The tourny games including the finals will be uploaded to my channel, one video a day: https://www.youtube.com/user/gameinnovator/videos
