Absurd Height With Placeholders

Found this while screwing around.

MATERIALS: 6 placeholders, AND something for the placeholders to shoot at, something that can't shoot back. make sure you enable overkill and set firestate to hold fire on all of the placeholders

STEP 1: have 3 placeholders shoot at the enemy.

STEP 2: wait until the placeholders are at 50% reload

STEP 3: have the other 3 placeholders shoot at the enemy.

STEP 4: set all the placeholders to fire at will and watch them ascend into heaven, or at least the maximum height for black holes.

Depending on your luck, it can take anywhere from 2 to 8 minutes for them to reach max hieght, which is around 3 times the height lobster reach with their lob.

I think it's fine, it shouldn't affect the game as much as lobstervator which could achieve astronomical heights. for example with this a phantom can get 2x the range compared to 15x or more from lobster space elevator.

placeholder is a difficult unit to use properly.

it is annoying.

it is worse than emp damage because it clumps units together.

i do not know many new players who can counter it properly.

i have seen heavy tanks and light units both trapped by it.


it is yet another annoying unit that makes the gameplay annoying

Well 2 lobsters and 2 microed/widgeted placeholders should be able to reach arbitrary height... Placeholder save the progress while lobster ups the group up and up

Placeholder can lock almost everything in place, there is no delay between one blackhole running out and another being fired so no time to escape. Especially annoying for large units like Dante as a 250m unit renders it useless.

Placeholder indeed feels like another unit that punishes players for trying to carry out assaults with heavy units, the thing heavy units are theoretically meant to do. A placeholder + moderator combo isn't invincible but is rather aggravating. Its one of those combos where without the right counter you're just going to unilaterally take damage and not be able to do anything to hit back.

When I set this height it seemed just about fine. I have not seen anyone try to abuse it though.
