Trying to log into my account on the Wiki the only option I get now is to sign in with Steam. That's an excellent way to keep me out of it, but is this intentional?

I have the same problem which is annoying, because my steam login requires me to log out of family view, even when it isn't even on, but usually to fix that problem I open up the game and press "Home" in the top-right corner, does that work for you?

I'm not joining Steam any time soon. Then again, I still have my authentication cookie on this device.

The game can log me into the forums, but that I can do from the browser easily enough, too. The Wiki has its own log in system, and that won't let me in without Steam. However, just like USrankOflameo, I have no plans to subscribe to Steam in the observable future. So that pretty much means saying goodbye to my Wiki editing days.

What do you mean by "steam subscription"? A steam account is free (same as a Zero-K account for that matter). If you don't use the Steam account for anything else than Zero-K wiki not sure what would be the big difference...

I use "subscription" in ideological sense here, but yes, if it's not clear, I mean account.

Still not sure why you think making a steam account is a huge problem. You could even make a throw away email account for registering to steam if you really do not want steam to know your email an account.

I understand a healthy approach where you do not use your full real life name as account name everywhere, but this does not seem to be the case... (or maybe is your real name "Random X"? :p)

Technically it would be nice to have some independence from Steam (in case they decide to charge for any of the services they provide now for free), but that comes at an effort for the developers and I do not think a Steam change would come from one day to another (they would announce it first), so any "issue" can be tackled then.

Just click on remove the game in the steam library, and that thing that logs you in under your steam account automatically, even tho you have the game downloaded from itch.io, will be removed.

I would appreciate the thread not being derailed with details on how to get a Steam account or how to use Steam. I already said that it's not happening. The question is why Steam is now the only login option for the wiki. Makes no sense to me.

FRrankmalric I refuse to agree to Steam's End User License Agreement.

I'm not sure whether this is a bug or not. If it isn't, then perhaps the dev time to maintain another way to log in wasn't worth the few people would be affected by it.

As someone who avoids steam (80% for monetary reasons, 20% for privacy)
I support not getting too dependant on it.

As an interim measure I've re-enabled anonymous edits.

I'll enable logins using existing wiki accounts (using password) in parallel with Steam logins, when I figure out how to do it.

The effort is much appreciated, thank you. Now if only it remembered me... Login credentials not accepted. I use a password manager, so I know I didn't mistype them.

Edit: It's now fixed for me.
