There was an engine update for Zero-K this weekend. There are a few lingering bugs as we don't have the coverage in focused testing, which are being patched as we go. The main feature is improved performance, especially for newer graphics cards, and the general promise of more performance once we use more of the capabilities of the engine. Being up-to-date with the engine is also of great benefit to other parts of development.

Unfortunately, while we're trying to support as much as we can, graphics cards older than about a decade, or old laptops with integrated graphics, may run into trouble. Players with graphics bugs and performance issues should first try updating their graphics drivers, and then ask for help in #support on the server or on Discord.

Two things I noticed right away after downloading this, borderless window no longer hides taskbar (which can be good or bad depending on how you were using it before) and there's a nice APM counter tab in end of the game stats.

What kind of issue? any error messages? what steps have to you taken to try to fix it?

https://pastebin.com/KcSvzqvH

System.Net.WebException: Error: SecureChannelFailure (The authentication or decryption has failed.) ---> System.IO.IOException: The authentication or decryption has failed. ---> System.IO.IOException: The authentication or decryption has failed. ---> Mono.Security.Protocol.Tls.TlsException: The authentication or decryption has failed.

looks like Mono does bring its own CA certs with each update and does distrust older ones. as this is a company notebook, i am not allowed to update Mono or install CAs directly.

time to switch the machine i guess. other laptop however does crash mumble so there is that.

DErankAdminmojjj From the error, I'm guessing you're on Linux? The most recent version uploaded to Itch has a launcher (Zero-K.bin.x86_64) with some updated built-in mono libraries. You could try downloading the most recent portable to see if that fixes the problem. GitHub has some details.

So within the first few days after the new engine I had FPS of about 40 in Lobpot(no lag).
As GBrankBLaNKMiND already said the lag in lategame Lobpot is back.

I don't know if other people have noticed that too?

Weird. If it's such a stark issue perhaps try http://zero-k.info/mediawiki/Engine_Testing

Run 5v5 AI games and compare. Use old engines 105.1.1-822-ga2f88fe and 105.1.1-798-gae7f0f8.

I haven't noticed it, but then again I have never had lag before, and I wasn't looking for it, so next time I'm on I'll try to see if it lags any more for me.

Actually here is a theory. The recent updates have fixes/fallbacks for shaders on old hardware. Perhaps the initial update caused the game to run in potato mode for you, yielding increase framerate.

Do the tests on the older engines and post screenshots.

Have read wrong have tested 4v4...
So 105.1.1-822-ga2f88fe actually runs super smoothly, but about every 7 seconds it jerks extremely, nothing changes in the later game.
[Spoiler]

And at 105.1.1-798-gae7f0f8 is just scary when I move my mouse to another place on the map it jerks terribly and it goes in early game (04:52) to FPS about 30 see screenshot.
[Spoiler]

In summary, I can say that after about 2-3 minutes the FPS halves in any engine.
