Rating and rank confusion

The profile page and the wiki seem to have a different idea as to what "rating" and "rank" mean. The wiki describes rank as nothing more than level (By the way, does anyone know the ranges? like, star rank goes to levels 100+ and so on? I don't know those numbers, but I think it would be nice to have them listed on the wiki.), whereas profile page calls everything "rank" with no mention of "rating" whatsoever. So what needs to change, the profile page or the wiki?

Rank is probably meant to be shape, and rating colour.

I thought rating would be the WHR number (shown rating or actual WHR mean value either with or without standard deviation) and rank would be the rank icon color either with or without its shape.

Thanks for the answers thus far everyone. Still need that info about which shape corresponds to which rank, but really don't want to dig through code. I modified that wiki page to make the definitions a little clearer and less redundant, but it pretty much still says what it used to say. Looks like maybe the profile page code needs to be updated to be in agreement with the wiki.

I feel that it isn't clear enough (in the interface, but also the help pages) what counts as Competitive (MatchMaker) and what counts as Casual (Custom) rating ?

For instance it looks like that not only 1vs1 counts for MatchMaker rating, but team vs team (and even coop vs AI/chicken ?!) count too, while AFAIK they don't ?

Rank is the player's level indicated by the shape of the icon.

But rank is also the player position on the rating ladder !

Rename it on the wiki. Shape is due to level, colour is due to rating.

And we're back to asking what "rank" is. The word is mostly used by players the way it's currently described on the wiki, but the code does seem to think that it's more related to ratings. Maybe the word should be removed from the documentation until we can all agree on its meaning.

Probably overlooked it somewhere, but I haven't seen it explicitly mentioned at all.
