Hi guys here is a very wip model which I would propose as a gnat replacement ( once i finish it... ) Its an rush job atm ( 1hour). Not very happy with the main body, but the engines and weapon look like i envisioned them. I will remake the mainbody from scratch again, but would like to hear some opinions to the design as it is :) sorry for the spelling errors, i´m in a rush today

Well, it's: 1) supposed to be "very wip" 2) doesn't list an exact polycount, and doesn't look like said count is large 3) doesn't seem much more complicated than Gull or Firefly. 4) much nicer than the old Gnat!

the differance is that to use gnat effectevly you need ~30, there is never that many firefly/gull aywhere maybe it would work if you doubled the size/cost/evrything about the gnat

There are often such or even greater numbers of glaive running around, of all things. Also, stop worrying about polycount dabb, you play with colvols and icons anyway :D For the rest, polycounts of 1.5k per unit isn't that bad (and considerably less strain than particles everywhere)

Like the shape of it. I'd make the weapon larger and unify it into a single canon with two prongs on the tip, and I'd remove some of the high-frequency details, the rear grills in particular. But the shape is great and I can't wait to see it in game.

I think valkyrie is pretty amazing as is, i especially like how it looks like jetpack when carrying zeus etc. In fact, maybe even too amazing!

The valk is fine, the gnat isn't, and that model looks good. Personally I like how the Gnat has a chubby and vertical shape as that makes it stand-out from the other pancake-flat gunships... but I'm not going to be picky about a new Gnat model since the old one needs replacing.

[pikts]wolas there are few of you, if i would like old, extra low-poly models, i would play BA. It`s one of the best things about ZK - you can see progress what the game is making. To the unit, i like it, but i thing you need to reduce poly-count at bottom of model, gnat is very small and there is lot of them.

@aiphee, don't worry about polycount. Spring's performance woes have nothing to do with pushing polygons around. The details on LordMuffe's Gnat model are concerning because they'll just be visual noise at the normal range/scale of Gnats... not because the polygons are expensive. Polies are *cheap*. Spending 1000+ polies on a Gnat is perfectly reasponable.

:D anarchid has a point, well at least it will make for epic screenshot but for that model gnats need to be bigger and more badass i agree that curent chubby model is more aproproate for gnat maybe use this for banshee

In my experience thing which makes game good is definitly not pretty models or whatever "pretty". Its gameplay pure gameplay. Yes I dont mind can model at all.
